Chief Product Officer

DNS Filter

We work a rotating 4 day work week, so we're off on every other Friday

Only considering candidates who are eligible to work in the USA ⚠️

At DNSFilter we are making workplaces more secure through protective DNS and advanced content filtering—and we need your help! We’ve come a long way over the past few years. In 2021 we had a successful $30 million Series A funding round, in 2022 we became the fastest DNS security tool on the planet and acquired the privacy-focused VPN Guardian, and in 2023 we extended our Series A by $15M and added more global points of presence to our anycast network!

As we continue our product-fueled growth by adding new features and broadening our solution to meet the needs of the global market, it's clear there's a missing piece. That's where you come in!

We are looking for a Chief Product Officer to define and lead our Product and Engineering departments and roles, ensuring they are performed efficiently and are aligned with the organization’s vision and strategy. The CPO will lead and facilitate product management and engineering teams (a total group of around 60) to ensure they are creating products that deliver value to both the user and the business. It is intended that this role will likely have 5 direct reports, including the heads of Engineering, Product, Security Intelligence, and Customer Success/Support with the goal of creating an end-to-end product loop.

As the Chief Product Officer, you will play a critical role in driving the development and execution of DNSFilter's product strategy. Your primary responsibility will be to lead our product and engineering teams in delivering innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of our customers. You will work closely with the CEO and cross-functional teams, including marketing and sales, to ensure alignment and successful product launches. Additionally, you will collaborate with key stakeholders to evaluate customer insights and leverage market trends to shape the product roadmap.

This is a wonderful opportunity for someone who has a passion for operating in an organization that puts our product first. DNSFilter currently operates the world's fastest DNS network, processing nearly 3 trillion requests per month for over 30 million customers. As such, it is imperative that you have a sense of pride and passion in your work in order to be successful as a leader in this particular role.

We recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job. If you feel like this job is for you, please apply. We believe diversity of experience and skills, including transferable skills, combined with passion is a key to innovation and excellence; therefore we encourage people from all backgrounds to apply to our positions!

In this role, you will:

  • Serve as the primary leader responsible for the successful development and launch of products at DNSFilter.
  • Oversee the Research & Development (R&D) and Engineering functions within the business.
  • Work in close collaboration with an experienced Senior Vice President of Engineering, a Director of UI/UX, and a Senior Director of Product Management.
  • Drive the development and execution of DNSFilter's product strategy.
  • Lead the product team to deliver innovative solutions tailored to the evolving needs of our customers.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales, to ensure alignment and successful product launches.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to gather insights and leverage market trends to inform and shape the product roadmap.
  • Establish/maintain strong relationships with partners and analyst community to ensure DNSFilter is recognized as a market leader
  • At a minimum, travel to quarterly ELT offsite meetings

To qualify for this role, you have:

  • Proven experience in a similar role (especially leading product development/launches), preferably in a similar industry.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of managing and inspiring multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience in overseeing R&D and engineering functions, with an ability to align these functions with overall business strategy.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with senior leadership roles in Engineering, UI/UX, and Product Management.
  • Deep understanding of internet & cybersecurity technologies (ideally of DNS-layer security) and the ability to innovate in this domain.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate insights and trends into actionable product strategies.
  • Experience in a fast-growing tech environment, preferably with a background in security and DNS technologies.
  • A highly data driven, (KPIs and Metrics first) mindset with proven ability to drive accountability through metrics across the team

Bonus points for:

  • Prior experience in a company that has undergone rapid growth and scale ($20M thru $150M), especially in the tech or security sectors.
  • Background in working with privacy-focused technologies, like VPNs.
  • Demonstrable success in product innovations and launches that have significantly impacted the market.
  • A strong network within the tech industry, particularly in areas related to DNS & network security.
  • International business experience, given the global scope of the company's market reach.

We Offer:

  • A 100% work-from-home position with a company that values and fosters personal and professional growth

  • Passionate and intelligent colleagues who work hard and have a good time doing it
  • Rotating 4-Day work week
  • Paid company-wide week off at the end of each year
