Who are we looking for?

Join our dynamic team as a BI Strategy, Architecture & Data Manager at Network Rail!

Your role will be pivotal in setting and ensuring the adherence to our BI service roadmap and standards, fostering a consistent framework for all customers. By empowering individuals to self-serve and access data, you'll play a crucial part in amplifying analysis and facilitating informed decision-making across our diverse business landscape.

About the role (External)

What does the average day look like?

Your responsibilities will be diverse and impactful, ranging from owning and developing our BI service roadmap to ensuring alignment with corporate standards and policies. You'll provide invaluable guidance to customers on their BI and data strategies, fostering efficiency and consistency across our enterprise-wide BI delivery. Additionally, you'll spearhead the development of strategic architecture and warehousing strategies, ensuring core data sources are readily accessible for self-service. Your expertise will be crucial in directing the operation of automated BI data access processes, safeguarding data integrity while adhering to security frameworks and legislation.

As a key influencer on our IT Design Board, you'll champion effective management of enterprise data interfaces. Staying ahead of legislative changes, collaborating with Information Management, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Moreover, you’ll take ownership of BI applications, establishing strong links with technology partners for continuous improvement. With your keen eye for problem-solving, you'll assess and architect solutions to enhance the performance of our BI platform.

What essential skills and experiences are required?

We're seeking someone with a proven track record in enterprise strategy development and execution, coupled with extensive knowledge of system and business architectural concepts. Your substantial experience as an Enterprise Architect, Solution Architect, or similar role will be invaluable. Proficiency in databases, data warehouse design, coupled with hands-on expertise in ETL technologies along with various BI toolsets like Microsoft Azure Technologies, including Data Factory (ADF), Power BI and Fabric, Oracle OBIEE, or Essbase, is essential. Your adept negotiation skills and ability to secure buy-in from stakeholders will be key in driving our initiatives forward. Demonstrated leadership in managing BI teams and building quick credibility is a must. You'll navigate complex environments effortlessly, influencing senior stakeholders and effectively communicating strategic direction. Additionally, your experience in designing and implementing policies and standards will be highly valued.

This role is a full-time opportunity, but flexible working patterns will be considered.

Location: This role can be based at Manchester Square One or The Quadrant:MK.

For Roles based at The Quadrant:MK, you must live within 90 minutes.

Band & Salary: Band 3C £55,596 - £62,546. Depending on experience.

All positive drugs and alcohol test results for prospective candidates will be securely held on Sentinel database and a 5 year suspension from applying for a safety critical role, a role which requires PTS certification or a Key Safety role on Network Rail Managed Infrastructure will be enforced.
