We have an incredible opportunity for Actuaries to join our With Profits Management Team and help us transform how we manage our with-profits business. Phoenix is the second largest provider of with-profits business in the UK with 22 With-Profits Funds.

The role
You will support a significant change programme that will deliver structural changes to with-profits funds such as mutualising 90:10 funds, merging funds, buying out of blocks of business and internal reinsurance.
You will be responsible for developing proposals and solutions to simplify our with-profits funds, ensuring the needs of with profits customers are being met along performing analyses to assess the impact of proposals on customer outcomes and consider the fairness of proposals for different groups of customers. You will lead the preparation of papers and reports for senior management, internal governance committees, boards and regulators and present proposals to a range of stakeholders, including simplifying communications of technical matters for non-technical audiences.
Along with this you will also be responsible for creating pro-forma balance sheets to indicate the financial impact of proposal and balancing business demand, issues and risks by applying sound judgement in complex scenarios, often with considerable uncertainty.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified actuary with relevant post-qualification with experience in with-profits management or with-profits reporting
- Ideally have experience in delivering structural changes to with-profits funds such as fund mutualisation, fund mergers, buying out of blocks of business, internal reinsurance or experience of actuarial projects to deliver change
- Time-management, planning and stakeholder management skills will ensure successful delivery of a mixture of business-as-usual review work, methodology reviews and project work.
- Ability to conduct research and investigations across a range of financial and commercial issues
- Excellent communication skills mean you will work effectively with a technical actuarial audience and simplify communications of technical issues to a non-technical audience.
