Visual Effects Team Lead

Job Description

As a Team Lead specialized in visual effects on the team at Ubisoft Montreal, you will play a key role guiding a talented team in improving and innovating visual effects for the project. You will combine your team management skills and technical expertise to push the boundaries of effects while navigating complex game systems.

What you will do

  • Work closely with multidisciplinary teams (VFX artists, technical artists, technical directors and programmers) to produce high-quality effects safely and sustainably.
  • Lead initiatives to modernize legacy effects, ensuring alignment with the future artistic vision while respecting current technical constraints.
  • Facilitate collaborative and productive art reviews, adopting an iterative process of visual improvement.
  • Inspire and guide the team by creating an environment that fosters learning, growth and continuous innovation.
  • Contribute to solving technical challenges while ensuring deliverables meet the game's high quality standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven strong experience in at least two of the following areas: people management, special effects creation, and understanding of technical systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse, interdisciplinary teams.
  • Natural leadership, with a passion for mentoring and developing your team.
  • Excellent mastery of complex technical systems and modernization efforts.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strategic thinking combined with a creative problem-solving mindset.
