ABOUT THE LEGAL & CRISIS TEAM

BerlinRosen’s Legal Affairs & Crisis Communications team combines advocacy for some of the most important causes of our day—defending civil rights, combating gender and race discrimination, advocating for gun violence prevention—with more traditional crisis communications helping institutions, companies, nonprofits and high net-worth family offices and individuals defend themselves from reputational threats by shaping the narrative swirling around them. Our team regularly works both for and with many of the country’s largest law firms, helping their clients navigate challenges that often accompany legal hurdles, threats from within, regulatory matters and government investigations. The team also maintains close contacts at top media outlets and leverages those connections to help clients mitigate damaging stories before and after they are reported.

ABOUT THIS ROLE

BerlinRosen is seeking an experienced communications strategist to join us as a Vice President. In this role, you will counsel clients across our practice through comprehensive communications strategies that advance client goals, mentor and manage junior staff and actively engage in business development. As a core leader of the team, you should thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate thoughtfulness in creating a collaborative culture, and have expertise on team capacity planning and business development.

A key focus of this role will be working with many of the nation’s (and the world’s) largest law firms. Part of this work will revolve around helping firms profile-build across key practice areas and for key attorneys; part will be supporting law firms’ representation of their own clients in matters that have a reputational component in addition to a legal one.

Please note this is not a counsel position - the focus is public relations and communications on behalf of clients in the legal space.

  • Mentor and lead staff through consistent feedback, monitoring results and supporting professional growth
  • Drive business development and lead RFP responses

Essential skills:

  • 7+ years of experience in strategic communications in relevant spaces (legal affairs, crisis communications, law firms); PR agency and/or law firm marketing department experience preferred
  • Thoughtful people management skills with experience leading diverse and inclusive teams and the ability to support professional growth through individualized techniques
  • Creative problem-solving approach to strategies with an eye for each client’s unique history and goals. Each client has a specific history and goal, your strategies take their uniqueness into consideration
  • Exceptional client-service skills that makes each client feel like they’re your highest priority
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with impeccable editing eyes and can skillfully adapt your presentation style depending on your audience
  • Expert multi-tasker with the ability to handle multiple assignments at once, work quickly and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment while paying close attention to details
