Location: This role is based in our London offices with time spent working in the office and at home.

The role

We are looking for a dynamic VAT Manager who is experienced in providing VAT advice and undertaking VAT compliance.  The role holder will help manage the Indirect Tax compliance obligations, support projects, manage tax risk and apply technical and business knowledge to aid senior management decision making. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the quarterly UK indirect tax return processes
  • Providing advice to the business on the VAT liability of transactions
  • Ensure effective internal VAT compliance processes are applied
  • Manage year end VAT partial exemption and Capital Good Scheme calculations
  • Take lead on indirect tax input into projects and manage outputs accordingly
  • Supporting the Head of Indirect Tax on complex advisory projects

What are we looking for?

  • Professional qualification in tax (e.g. CTA) or accountancy (e.g. CA, ACA or ACCA).
  • Experience of a complex indirect tax environment, either in-house or in professional services firm advising large groups.
  • Experience in indirect tax compliance, ideally with experience of complex partial exemption calculations
  • Interest in and ideally experience of process automation, process improvement and supporting change.
  • Interest in financial services, ideally with some relevant experience of Life Assurance and Asset Management sector
  • Ability to work flexibly to meet deadlines
  • Able to work in a complex, ambiguous and time constrained environment
