We have a great opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Trading Technology Delivery Lead within the Asset Management function. This is an integral role, building out a new Trading Technology Team, as we transition to new data architecture and trading eco-system to support our acceleration in direct investing.

Team / Function Context

Phoenix Asset Management has embarked on exciting journey to develop its Capital Markets and Policy Holder Asset Management capabilities.  As part of this journey, Phoenix is implementing Aladdin and associated trading eco-system, a quantitative engineering capability, and a supporting data eco-system.

The Trading Technology Team will have specific accountability for Aladdin and the front office trading eco-system including tooling used to support the middle office.   This is a key role in the team and will be critical to supporting our Quantitative Engineering Team (Beacon) and integral to how we transition to a new data architecture to support our acceleration in direct investing.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of AM Transformation, the Trading Technology Delivery Lead will manage the delivery of our Trading Technology eco system supporting both Capital Markets and the Policy Holder Investment Office (PIO) delivery.

The successful candidate will manage a team of IT professionals who along with our broader Technology, Transformation and Data team, will focus on delivery of solutions to the Front Office and supporting functions.

Operating in an agile working environment, this role may include additional accountabilities, focused on how we support our Front Office and manage our commercial relationships.

This role will require a high level of leadership and stakeholder engagement, ranging from the Front Office stakeholders, COO heads, Heads of Transformation, Head of Operational Change, Data Lead, Technology Architects, external partners, and internal partners.

As a key leader in the broader Asset Management (AM) Technology, Data and Transformation team, the successful candidate will ensure (in conjunction with peers) that both the business outcomes and the agreed operating platform are delivered for Asset Management.

This role is part of the AM Technology, Data and Transformation leadership team and will also lead and develop talent, processes, and approaches to improve delivery capability, practices and outcomes, and to ensure the requisite control and governance activities are embedded into deliveries.

To ensure success in this role, the Trading Technology Delivery Lead will need to ensure we remain connected to market developments, data providers and play an active role in external forums as needed

What are we looking for?

Experience (Essential)

  • Extensive experience in a technology role within Asset Management or Financial Services with direct exposure of Trading & Portfolio Management, Data and Risk solutions
  • Strong understanding of Front Office functions, including Trading and Portfolio Management
  • Experience of Trade Order Management systems (Aladdin is strongly preferred ) coupled with comprehensive understanding of integration with quant tooling and data architectures.
  • Knowledge of Capital Market products (including derivatives) including the full trade lifecycle
  • Knowledge of third-party IT partners

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work across multiple subject areas, or a single large or complicated subject area
  • Demonstrates resilience, flexibility and adapt to changing schedules and ability to prioritise
  • Experience in modern ways of working (examples include Agile, CI/CD, DevOps, Test Automation)
  • Practices a solutions-oriented approach and provide pragmatic direction which is consistent with capital markets longer-term strategy

Qualifications (preferred)

  • Degree/further degree/CFA/IMC or other post graduate finance/quantitative qualification
  • Professional IT qualifications.
  • Investment / Asset Management qualifications
