Blackbird Interactive is looking for a creative, artistically talented, and technically strong Technical UI Artist. Do you enjoy solving UI and UX problems end-to-end, from early concepts through in-engine implementation and polish? Are you comfortable bridging the gap between design intent and technical reality? Do you have experience with Unreal Engine? You will work closely with Designers and Programmers to design, implement, iterate on, and maintain the final UI for our upcoming game.

Responsibilities

  • Design, organize, implement, and maintain UI layouts and systems within Unreal Engine while ensuring a consistent visual style across the entire project interface.
  • Create meaningful UI deliverables such as icons, wireframes, mockups, motion graphics, interactive prototypes, and concepts that support the product vision.
  • Collaborate closely with game designers, UX, and UI engineers to translate design intent into robust, shippable UI solutions.
  • Own UI features from concept through implementation, iteration, optimization, and final polish.
  • Provide and receive constructive feedback and contribute positively as part of a collaborative team

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a UI Artist or Technical UI Artist.
  • Strong understanding of UI implementation workflows and production pipelines.
  • Hands-on experience implementing UI in Unreal Engine, including layout, animation, and interaction.
  • Experience working closely with UI engineers and programmers to drive UI creation, including asset preparation, design specifications, debugging, and iteration.
  • Familiarity with UI development tools and workflows (ex: Figma, Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.)Understanding of UI, interaction design, usability principles, and best practices.
  • Ability to work on multidisciplinary teams and adapt to changing priorities throughout a product life cycle.
  • Good communication and presentation skills

Nice to Have

  • Ability to independently implement and iterate on UI designs in-engine.
  • Experience with scripting or visual scripting for UI behavior and logic.
  • Experience developing UI for AAA console or multi-platform projects.
  • Experience creating UI motion graphics and animations using After Effects or in-engine animation tools.
  • Experience creating interactive, in-engine prototypes to validate UX and workflows with stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with performance considerations, resolution scaling, and localization-ready UI

$75,000 - $95,000 a year
