About The Role
We have a new exciting opportunity for a Technical specialist to join the business and make a real difference to our Wholesale and Online Operation! We have significantly expanded our online operation to meet our customers’ increasing demand for home delivery. In convenience and wholesale, we have already built successful commercial relationships with key partners such Amazon and Deliveroo as well as expanding our Morrisons Daily business to incorporate a growing number of franchise partners.
As a Technical Specialist Wholesale & Online your responsibilities will include:
- To support the business to achieve our ambitious growth plans across both the wholesale and online channels.
- The technical specialist position is an intrinsic part of the Wholesale and Online teams and will develop relationships with Morrisons Wholesale, Convenience and Online teams. To deliver this some travel will be required.
- Reporting to the Senior Technical Manager you will need to be capable of working across a wide range of topics and teams, working with subject matter experts within the wider business as required.
- The role will support the relationship with external Customer technical personnel, providing technical advice and support to ensure our customers both inside and outside of the UK are provided with safe and legal products of the specified quality. This includes reporting on customer complaints and supporting incident management and investigation processes.
- Building on strong foundations, we have ambitious plans to grow our export business beyond the countries currently supplied.
- Accordingly, understanding the legal requirements of destination markets and ensuring that the technical information and documentary needs of customers are serviced are one of the key aspects of the role.
- The remit also includes supporting the management of the safe and legal audits applied to our franchise operators, ensuring all stores operate to the stringent standards we have agreed and that Morrisons' brand reputation is protected.
About You
You’ll need skills and experience like this:
- Degree in relevant regulatory or scientific discipline preferred.
- Sound working knowledge and practical experience of legislation/guidance within a retail setting.
- Good understanding of Trading Standards, Food Safety and Health and Safety legislation and associated enforcement practices.
- Audit experience; Lead Assessor/HACCP qualification preferred.
- Good awareness of retail, online and wholesale business models.
- Ability to influence and build effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Ability to balance compliance objectives with operational and commercial needs of business.
- Strong risk assessment skills employed to make timely business decisions and prioritise work.
- Excellent, clear and concise communication skills.
- Strong problem solving skills with a tenacity to resolve root causes.
- Ability to understand and provide simple, business focused interpretation of complex legislation and guidance
