Team Leader Underwriting Operations

The opportunity:

The purpose of this role is to oversee and support the Underwriting Operations teams, to ensure they are working in line with the business plan and delegated authority. This involves ensuring high standards of service delivery, identifying opportunities for improvement, and assisting team members in achieving their personal and professional development goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the delivery of the annual business plan for the respective business unit.
  • Develop, deliver and maintain the appropriate support process, management controls and reporting as required.
  • Establish, strengthen and develop relationships with stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
  • Underwrite insurance risks following the business plan and delegated authority.
  • Direct, motivate, develop, coach and manage the underwriting operations team.
  • Understand and comply with legal and regulatory requirements to meet obligations.
  • Monitor and influence processes to ensure underwriting activities meet business unit expectations.
  • Maintain and update management information/data to support decision-making.
  • Participate in relevant meetings to share and develop strategy, knowledge and best practices.
  • Champion a customer-focused attitude and behaviours to provide high-quality service.
  • Ensure portfolios are compliant with local and overseas regulatory requirements.
  • Provide compliance management information to senior management.

Your Profile:

Preferred Work Experience includes:

  • Proven experience in people management is desirable.
  • Strong and established customer and broker relationships.
  • Experience in using risk profiling, pricing tools, and loss models.
  • Significant experience in the insurance industry.

Qualifications:

  • Certifications in insurance.
