🌟 Join Our Team at Network Rail! 🌟

Are you ready to make a difference in people's lives? At Network Rail, we connect passengers and freight customers, ensuring safe and efficient transportation across the country.

We're dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive organisation that reflects the passengers we serve. To achieve this, we're committed to becoming an open, diverse, and inclusive workplace, leveraging the skills and expertise of our talented workforce. Together, we strive to create a safe and accessible railway for everyone.

Investing in our people is key to enhancing the safety, reliability, and efficiency of our railway system. If you're passionate about making a meaningful impact, then this opportunity is for you!

Brief Description

We are the Learning & Organisational Development team.  We develop and manage our national leadership development programmes (many of which are cross-industry), succession planning, coaching and mentoring, and talent analytics.  We also deliver two core programmes of work that put the employee in control of their career as we move towards creating more transparency around talent management, career development and progression.

The team this role sits in looks after talent management and talent analytics, and you would be working alongside another talent and workforce analyst to support workstreams for the whole team as well as leading on analytical projects in their own right.

About the role (External)

We're seeking a skilled individual to join our dynamic team, leveraging their expertise in Power BI and Excel to analyse Network Rail's people data relating to talent management. In this role, you'll uncover valuable insights that inform strategic decisions, enhance workforce capability, and ultimately drive business performance.

What does the average day look like?

In this role, you will be responsible for designing and delivering forward-thinking analytics output, utilising data visualisation techniques to tell compelling stories. You'll analyse HR process outputs to boost workforce productivity and align with our People Plan objectives.

Additionally, you'll measure and improve customer and employee journeys to enhance service quality. Your role will involve influencing senior leadership with crucial insights for better business outcomes and recommending data science projects to enhance talent management solutions.

Furthermore, you'll establish predictive analytics to foresee business needs and manage risks while coaching stakeholders and business leaders to optimise data usage for integrated talent management solutions.

Person Specification / Essential Criteria

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of leveraging data to influence effective decision-making and operational metrics. They should have a detailed understanding of Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, and experience handling large datasets. A degree or relevant experience in technology/computer science is required.

Additionally, familiarity with relevant national and international legislation, such as the Data Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act, is essential. Fluency in analytics tools like Power BI, Oracle OBIEE, and proficiency in statistical techniques, such as regression and multivariate analysis, is expected.

Candidates should also demonstrate an understanding of lean methodologies and continuous improvement practices, along with experience in stakeholder management within complex organisational environments. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, as is the ability to operate as a trusted advisor to stakeholders.
