Job Description

Forbes Advisor is looking for a staff writer with writing and editing experience to join the investing team. The investing section oversees financial products related to investing, cryptocurrency and retirement.

We guide our readers to make smart, informed financial decisions through best-ofs, product reviews, engaging content and data- and SEO-driven journalism. The investing team at Forbes Advisor covers a broad range of content, from the creation of daily pieces on commodity prices like gold and silver to in-depth insights on cryptocurrencies. The team also develops tools and guides to help readers choose the best financial product, whether that’s selecting a brokerage, cash management account, robo-advisor or opening a retirement account like an IRA or 401(k). We also try to help inform readers about evaluating other investment options, such as stocks, funds and crypto.

Responsibilities:

• Write helpful, accurate and engaging news stories, how-tos, roundups, best-ofs and product reviews.
• Work under daily deadlines and update stories in a timely manner
• Leverage data and SEO best practices when writing, editing and reporting
• Help the lead editor build and scale content efforts in the Investing vertical
• Assist and collaborate with internal teams in developing methodologies to rate and rank related products and services for best-ofs (e.g., best brokerages, best IRAs, best crypto exchanges)
• Brainstorm and contribute to newsletters and other editorial initiatives and features
• Adhere to Forbes Advisor style guidelines when writing and editing

Requirements:

• Previous experience in investment or financial journalism. Have experience in a different aspect of financial reporting or news coverage? Please apply—we recognize that a variety of experiences can offer a wealth of knowledge and perspective for our growing team.
• At least 2-4 years of experience in online journalism and writing-focused roles
• Strong understanding of the consumer finance space, or enthusiasm to learn
• Experience with SEO best practices preferred
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Nimble and open to quick changes in strategy and coverage need
