Mercor is seeking software engineers to support one of the world’s leading AI labs in building robust, high-performance systems that serve the needs of next-generation machine learning applications.
This role involves real-world engineering work—including environment configuration, database design, and the creation of scalable APIs and service layers that interface with advanced AI models.
You are good fit if you:
- Have 2-3+ years of elite software/system engineering experience from top-tier technology startups, quantitative trading firms, hedge funds, or similarly demanding environments.
- A Linux power user comfortable living in the terminal(building+compiling kernel, file permissions / chmod, file system operations, command line tools).
- Are highly skilled in Bash scripting, Python, Shell, C, and system debugging.
- Experienced in Docker, Git, networking, and UNIX tooling
- Intermediate-advanced experience in Linux
- Have worked with open-source repos/have open-source contributions/access to large codebases you own.
- Hold a Computer Science or related degree from a prestigious university in the U.S., Canada, or the UK.
- Possess expert-level proficiency in API development, including creation, testing, and integration.
- Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and rigorous problem-solving skills.
- Excel in both written and verbal communication.
Role Highlights
- Flexible workload: 20–40 hours per week, with potential to increase to 80 hours.
- Fully remote and asynchronous—work on your own schedule.
- Minimum duration: 1–2 months, with potential for extension.
Role Start Date
- This role will begin late-October to early-November with applications reviewed on a rolling basis.
Compensation and Legal Details
- You will be legally classified as an hourly contractor for Mercor
- We will pay you out at the end of each week via Stripe Connect
