Vacancy Details

Duration: 12-month Secondment (internal) or 12-month Fixed Term Contract (external) with the potential to go permanent. (Please note, secondments are subject to line manager approval, please discuss this with them before applying).

Location: This role is based in The Quadrant:MK This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered.For Quadrant:MK, you must live within 90 minutes of The Quadrant.

Band & Salary: Band 4B £35,582 - £40,830 pro rata.

Brief Description

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for an experienced social media manager with a proven record running X, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Instagram and Threads accounts.

The successful candidate will be a passionate content creator and will create or oversee the production of original media across video, graphics and motion graphics. You’ll be highly engaged in the editorial planning for our social channels and always on top of social media trends and technical updates to channels.

You’ll have excellent writing and numeracy skills, and the ability to think strategically.

You’ll also have excellent influencing skills and experience in building relationships with external and internal stakeholders.

The successful candidate will also be experienced in analytics and reporting, with a strong attention to detail and eagerness to gather insights about the broader social media landscape.

Familiarity with the social media publishing platform Sprout Social would be a bonus.

About the role (External)

About the team.. Our Communications function is responsible for ensuring that Network Rail presents a consistent narrative about the company and its strategy. The team integrates Network Rail’s long-term business strategy with its external stakeholder communications and internal employee engagement.

What does the average day look like? You’ll implement the social media strategy, coordinating with stakeholders across the company to ensure its effectiveness and encouraging adoption of relevant social media techniques into the corporate culture and into all the company’s activities and services.

In this role you will be required to manage social media campaigns and day-to-day activities via the social media team. Duties include online advocacy; writing editorial copy for posts; scheduling social posts; gathering, curating and editing multi-media; promoting campaigns, business-critical and safety-critical updates owned by internal and external stakeholders; providing analytics for stakeholders, and giving colleagues expert advice on all things social.

Essential Criteria

·Strong project management or organisational skills

·In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms and their respective participants (Facebook, YouTube, X, etc.) and how they can be deployed in different scenarios

·Knowledge of blogging systems relevant to the company

·Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships

·Team player, with the confidence to take the lead and guide other departments when necessary

·Good technical understanding and can pick up new technology swiftly

·Public relations, marketing, sales, community management experience, a plus

Desirable Criteria

·Educated to degree level or equivalent.

·Experience working within an agency environment or similar.

·Video editing skills.

·Familiarity with Sprout Social.
