The opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Underwriter to join our Property Team within our Technical and Business Performance area. As a Senior Underwriter your major focus will be on executing innovative product solutions through customer-centric insights and implementing meticulous risk management strategies on a variety of sizeable scheme business. In addition to underwriting tasks you will use your technical knowledge to add value across QBE, with involvement in projects to make our underwriting processes more efficient and introduce greater levels of creating clarity and simplification where possible/justified.

Your new role

A day in the role may look a bit like this:

• Build strong relationships with specific Major Trading Partners
• Use/Develop your Portfolio Management knowledge to provide insightful change across our scheme business
• Provide customer-centric insights, innovative product solutions, and meticulous risk management strategies
• Foster collective and aligned approaches that respond to the needs of our Major Trading Partners and Policyholders
• Participate in forums across the Property underwriting community to keep up to date with trends, changes, best practices, and to be aligned in underwriting ethos
• Involvement in ad-hoc projects to add value across the organisation

About you

To be successful as a Senior Underwriter, you will be an insurance professional with proven Property Underwriting experience at a Senior Underwriter Level. You will also have:

• Demonstrated maturity to manage outcomes of complex risks and to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
• The ability to plan to handle peak periods smoothly and efficiently
• A keen interest in analytics and policy wording critiquing
• The ability to effectively collaborate and work within a national team located across multiple locations
• A desire to mentor and guide less experienced underwriters to help them develop their skills and expertise
• An interest in learning new skills, which may take you down a product management path in the future
