Senior Underwriter – Commercial Combined

We are seeking a Senior Underwriter to join our Commercial Combined team in the South East UK, supporting our ongoing growth initiatives. This London-based role focuses on the open market, including delegated authority, and involves managing a diverse portfolio that spans multiple industries. The position offers a mix of responsibilities, including direct management duties and underwriting complex business cases.

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to

  • Underwrite business within your personal authority to achieve Business Plan objectives, including managing case referrals and overseeing Peer Review processes.
  • Actively participate in relevant meetings to share and develop strategies, knowledge, and best practices.
  • Support Broker Distribution & Engagement Plans in collaboration with the Market Management Team.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with Brokers and Customers, enhancing QBE's reputation as a consistent and innovative risk partner.
  • Collaborate with regional teams to deliver cross-class client solutions and foster engagement.
  • Work closely with other business functions, such as Risk Solutions, Claims, Operations, and Market Management, to provide customer-focused solutions.

To succeed in the role, you ideally will have:

  • Proven experience in underwriting Property and Casualty accounts.
  • Extensive Broker network with strong, established contacts.
  • Strong trading and negotiation skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to effectively engage, lead, and manage a team.
  • In-depth understanding of class-specific underwriting and reinsurance practices.
