Salary: £57, 350 to £67,350 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: Permanent role

Location: Salford  - Dock House. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working

Job Introduction

We are looking for a Senior Android/iOS Software Engineer to join the Bitesize App team.

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Bitesize App team, you will be one of the technical experts in the Android/iOS engineering space. We want to ensure that our applications continue to be world class, and we are looking for someone who is

passionate about application architecture and engineering excellence, and who is motivated by the challenge of ensuring that our application is fit to meet our product ambitions of the future. You will have a real opportunity to influence the technical

direction of a product that is to aid children in education every day.

 In the Bitesize App team we have a small, self-organising and highly collaborative team of engineers, testers, UX designers, technical architects and product owners.

Interview Process:

    • Live pair programming exercise with two of our software engineers which you get in advance of your assessment centre date

    • Blended interview questions with two of our software engineers

    • Interviews commencing the week starting the 18th of November* this may be subject to change

Main Responsibilities

  •     Playing a key role in the technical direction of the Bitesize App, ensuring our application architecture is fit for the future
  •     Hands on coding, pairing with other engineers on a daily basis
  •     Positively influencing our engineering culture by demonstrating the right behaviours and attitudes
  •     Mentoring and coaching other team members, ensuring a high standard of engineering excellence within our product
  •     Advocate new technologies and approaches to ensure our products are industry leading
  •     Providing domain expertise across the team.
  •     Collaborating with other departments across the BBC around shared concerns
