Salary: £65k-£75k depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: 15 month FTC

Location: Office Base is Cardiff Central Square. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working.

We are seeking a Senior Service Delivery and Development Manager to join our Payroll team on a FTC basis. The role is based in Cardiff and with some flexibility, i.e. hybrid working.

The BBC Payroll service delivery team, work with our third-party providers to ensure accurate payments to BBC individuals, and that payments are made on time.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Reporting to the Finance Director, The Senior Service Delivery and Development Manager for Payroll will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of UK payroll services within BBC Finance, which are managed through an outsourced service provider. This role ensures the day-to-day operation of a high-quality, consistent, and efficient payroll function. The successful candidate will also play a key role in fostering a culture of operational excellence and driving continuous process improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure compliance with UK payroll legislation and regulatory requirements.

Maintain a strong understanding of payroll control accounts and balance sheet reconciliations.

Oversee business-as-usual (BAU) payroll activities, including payroll sign-off, report generation, and resolution of escalated queries.

Monitor and ensure adherence to compliance standards and UK legislative updates.

Coordinate and request ad hoc payroll reports as needed to support business operations.

Collaborate with other areas of the business to address issues, manage risks, and handle escalations, while identifying and implementing opportunities for continuous improvement to enhance the efficiency and quality of service delivered to our colleagues.

Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience

To be successful in this role you will need the following:

Proven experience working within a payroll team, with a strong understanding of UK payroll legislation; international payroll experience is a plus.

A background in service delivery, with a focus on maintaining high standards in quality, commercial outcomes, systems/processes, communication, and customer experience.

Demonstrated experience in customer support, including handling and resolving queries effectively.

Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Excellent communication skills, particularly when engaging with third-party stakeholders.

Desirable:

Minimum CiPP qualified in payroll management
