Senior Project Controls Manager
Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking.
Package: £64,780 - £102,400(depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)
Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. We will consider flexible working requests so that your work may fit in with your lifestyle. Just let us know your preferred working pattern on your application.

Are you an established senior professional with the gravitas to influence strategic decisions, shape financial performance, and lead multidisciplinary teams to excellence? AWE is seeking a Senior Project Controls Manager with deep expertise across estimating, cost engineering, commercial or project planning paired with the ability to partner with senior leadership, challenge thinking and drive high‑impact business outcomes. In this pivotal role you’ll act as the primary advisor on project and programme performance, bringing clarity to complex issues, highlighting risks and opportunities and shaping interventions that deliver real efficiencies. Who are we looking for?
We do need you to have a background in the following:
- Background in Estimating, cost engineering, Quantity Surveying, Commercial, project planning.
- Managing the integration of all required project controls disciplines.
- Building effective relationships across the business area and broader business.
- Consolidated analysis and commentary of project and programme performance through financial and non financial performance indicators.
- Developing and maintaining relationships and awareness with key internal leadership stakeholders.
- Creating and aligning business opportunities, including recommendations for performance interventions and efficiency saving.
- Highlighting project and programme performance, risks, issues and opportunities to key internal leadership
- Managing stakeholders and ensuring that decisions and actions are taken and progress is monitored.
- Providing the single point of contact for the Project or Programme Manager for all aspects of P3M performance.
Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we’d like you to have experience in some of the following:
- Experience in leading, managing and integrating multi-discipline teams.
- Experience of dealing with complex business issues.
- Experience in a business or project control leadership role.
- Experience of producing, developing and managing a complex performance measurement baseline (PMB) (scope, time, cost, risk, assumptions) and subsequent change control.
- Experience of influencing sound business strategies to deliver savings and efficiencies.
Deploying appropriate procedures, processes and systems to ensure the quality and consistency of estimating deliverables.
