The opportunity

QBE’s Group Internal Audit (GIA) function is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Senior Manager to join its Group Head Office and Australia Pacific team.

This exciting role will provide you with the opportunity to plan and execute audits primarily across QBE’s Group Head Office (GHO) and Group Shared Services Centre (GSSC) functions. This pivotal role will work closely with the Head of Internal Audit in the delivery of the objectives and strategy of the Group Internal Audit function. There will also be opportunities over time to gain audit exposure to QBE’s Australia Pacific insurance portfolio.

Your new role

You will utilise your skill set to, amongst other things:

  • Work together with other GIA team members, both locally and globally, to produce a risk-based audit plan and lead the delivery of it in relation to the GHO and GSSC functions;
  • Lead and direct the audit team in terms of appropriate audit scope and objectives in line with GIA methodology and professional standards;
  • Review and support the delivery of audit reports to senior management, including greater involvement where needed on more complex/higher risk areas;
  • Provide specialist knowledge in key functional areas/business processes;
  • Support and lead the ongoing evaluation of risks across GHO/GSSC, including determining and driving appropriate audit responses;
  • Develop and maintain effective and meaningful relationships with senior stakeholders;
  • Lead initiatives to develop the GIA methodology through Centres of Excellence to ensure better practice; and
  • Be a role model for the team, support and coach staff to prioritise their development needs.

About you

  • You have relevant qualifications such as CA or CPA, with prior or present experience in a senior role at a Big 4 firm or a similar Internal Audit function;
  • You are experienced in performing and leading internal audits and in leading people;
  • You have deep experience in financial services and the associated regulatory environment;
  • You have strong understanding of risk management and internal control frameworks relevant to QBE’s business; and
  • You have understanding of internal auditing standards, governance frameworks and risk assessment practices.
