Senior Gameplay Programmer

Job Description

As a Senior Gameplay Programmer at Ubi Montreal, you will play a central role in the design, implementation and optimization of the interactive systems that bring a brand new game to life. You will have a direct influence on the quality of the player experience and will be the tangible link between code and in-game feel.

At each iteration, you will ask the essential questions: is it fun? is the game's tone respected? is it worthy of an AAA title? A reliable member of a gameplay team made up of specialists in AI, UI and 3C, you will bring your technical expertise to realize the designers' vision.

What you will do

  • Code new and existing systems to meet design intent.
  • Ensure new elements are consistent with existing code.
  • Develop tools to facilitate the content teams' work.
  • Analyze and improve existing features.
  • Collaborate with design and animation teams on environments.
  • Fix gameplay-related bugs.
  • Document your systems and tools.

Qualifications

What you bring to the team

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • At least 5 years of experience in C++ programming and optimization.
  • Expertise in gameplay, AI and design (main character, cameras, NPCs, environment, behaviors...).
  • Experience on a team that shipped a video game (an asset).
  • Console development experience (an asset).
  • Excellent communication across disciplines, ability to inspire and motivate.
  • Creativity and passion for innovation.
