About us

Tractive is the most trusted name for keeping cats and dogs safe and healthy. The secret to our success? A team of truly unique individuals who care about each other just as much as going the extra mile for pet parents. Want to be part of our story? Check out this role and see if you’re a good match!

Your territory

As part of our Data team, you will:

  • Build data models that turn the massive amount of GPS positions, activity data, and user interactions into clear insights — so every team at Tractive can make better decisions to improve the lives of pets and their people
  • Use tools like dbt to clean and organize data from our devices and apps, making it easy for the company to answer questions like “Where do pets spend most of their time?” or “How do people use live tracking?”
  • Work hand-in-hand with Data Analysts, Engineers, and Scientists to design a reliable, scalable data warehouse — the foundation that powers Tractive’s product decisions, marketing strategies, customer insights, and more
  • Build smart quality checks into data models to ensure stakeholders can trust key metrics — supporting use cases like monitoring live tracking frequency, detecting virtual fence exits, or evaluating battery-saving feature performance
  • Share your knowledge to help teammates grow — whether it’s guiding better data practices or sparking new ideas in a collaborative session
  • Bring in your fresh ideas to make Tractive better - you’ll never hear the phrase “...because that’s how we’ve always done things”
  • Continuously grow personally and professionally, take ownership of areas that show your potential, and attend workshops which help you get to the next level

Your profile

Key requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in data modeling, database design, and data architecture, with the ability to design scalable, future-proof solutions
  • Advanced SQL skills and hands-on experience working with large-scale data in platforms like Redshift, Snowflake, or BigQuery — you know how to navigate complex datasets and make them useful
  • Proven experience with dbt or similar tools (e.g. Dataform) for transforming and modeling data that powers decision-making across teams
  • A solid understanding of both Data Engineering and Data Analytics concepts — you know how raw data becomes business insight
  • Familiarity with software engineering best practices, like version control, automated testing, and writing clean, maintainable code
  • Python experience is a plus
  • Very good English skills

Does this sound like you?

  • A data-driven thinker with a sharp analytical mindset and a passion for turning insights into impact
  • A self-starter who thrives on structure, focus, and independence—yet loves teaming up to achieve big goals
  • A tenacious problem-solver who doesn’t back down from complexity, always finding smart, scalable solutions
  • Excited to collaborate onsite in Austria with an ambitious and supportive team that brings out your best
