THE ROLE
We are looking for a Royalty Assistant who will administer the royalty accounting terms of BBC Studios agreements with rights holders by analysing rights agreements, setting up the royalty accounting terms on the royalty system and validating payment calculations in order to ensure BBC Studios fulfils its obligations on all distribution activities.
Key responsibilities:
- Analyse rights acquisition agreements e.g. distribution agreements with independent production companies and other rights clearance information to determine the businesses’ accounting and reporting obligations on distribution revenues.
- Determine how to reflect the royalty accounting terms on the royalty system, CASPAR, referencing historic agreements to enable compliance with contractual reporting obligations and internal reporting requirements.
- Coordinate the monthly uploads of data into the royalty system from other BBCS systems required to enable all royalty and profit share calculations. This includes sales, distribution costs and content metadata.
- Review and validate an allocation of royalty calculations (accruals and payments) ensuring they reflect contractual terms and completed in time to meet contractual deadlines. Resolve queries from external stakeholders in a timely and articulate manner.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
- Aptitude for database and analytical work – able to summarise complex data.
- Strong organisational and planning skills – able to manage a busy workload against tight deadlines.
- Highly numerate.
- Works well under pressure and able to solve problems.
- Methodical approach and keen eye for detail.
- Ability to liaise with senior staff at all levels.
- Accounting and/or legal background (desirable).
- Experience of interpreting and analysing complex financial information, contractually based.
- Royalties and systems knowledge are trained on the job over a 6 month period.

Salary: Up to £30,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Working Pattern: Hybrid Working (Mix of working from home plus two/three days a week in the office).
