Scope and Purpose

  • Establish within the Branch a suitable and adequate risk management system for Pillar I (Credit, Market, Operational) and Pillar II (Liquidity, IIBB, Concentration, Country..) risks under the ISP Group guidelines tailored to local regulatory and Branch environment;
  • Define adequate policies, implementation procedures, and limits, to enable to notify the management of the different aspects of risks arising from the activities of the Branch;
  • Ensure that risk management activities are carried out properly and consistently with procedures and principles specified in regulation;
  • Cover the Branch risk management activities as well as to support the MEA and UK areas risk management activities;
  • Design and implement risk management system and risk strategy under the ISP Group Risk Management standarts. In addition to identifying risks inherent in the Branch’s portfolio and specify the relevant factors; consider these risks and factors for establishing risk appetite;
  • Ensure all risk factors are measured, controlled and risk monitoring results are timely reported;
  • Own and develop implementation procedure, policies, methodologies and associated tools related to the risks the Branch is exposed to, including risk appetite and strategy, ensuring that all documentation is in line with the regulatory requirements and approved by Branch Management and H.O. Enterprise Risk Management Department;
  • Monitor compliance with defined limits for each risk type. Prepare, validate and communicate risk reports. Propose limit updates and submit them for approval if necessary. Manage escalation processes in case of limit breaches;
  • Ensure that risks are adequately understood, and enough evaluations are carried out before entering into a transactions for Risk Committees;
  • Prepare presentations for Risk Committees; Have a full understanding of how ICAAP report works and define the correct stress test set up in line with Branch’s product and market conditions;
  • Understand IFRS9 and Basel Regulations in regard to impairment guidelines;
  • Have a good understanding of the Operational Risks & ICT framework ensuring necessary coordination between units to carry out operational risk management.

Required Experience

5  years as risk manager.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Sound knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, especially Basel and European Banking regulation
  • Good understanding of the risk factors defined under this regulation as well as of required risk methodologies and systems
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of:
    • Risk Management activities
    • Banking and Financial Services Products and Processes;
    • Local and corporate knowledge: sound experience of Qatari legal and regulatory environment, with particular emphasis of QFC rules and regulations
  • Languages: fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory. Knowledge of Arabic and/or Italian would be preferable
  • Academic background and Certificates: bachelor degree from a reputable university.
  • Computer: literate and confident use of with Microsoft Office especially excel, preferably macro SQL and SAS.
  • Personal skills: good communication and interpersonal skills, strongly organized person, able to work under pressure, strong teamwork attitude yet highly capable of setting, achieving and monitoring his/her own targets
