How You Will Make An Impact

At ThredUp, the accounting team is all about working together to solve problems and improve processes. As a Revenue Accountant, you will take an ownership role in ensuring that revenue is properly accounted for under ASC 606. You will help drive monthly and quarterly close activities, perform the validation and reconciliation of revenue and revenue related accounts, analyze data, and prepare reports for auditors and management.  You will assist in implementing tools and processes to improve efficiency and timely delivery of revenue and related accounts.  You will also have exposure to dynamic executives that have built an industry-leading company and brand in a market segment ready to explode. The ideal candidate will have Big 4 and industry experience. Companies/clients in the e-commerce/retail space is a plus!

In This Role You’ll Get To:

  • Responsible for monthly revenue close process, including revenue, refunds, and payment processor journal entries and reconciliations.
  • Participate in operationalizing technical revenue memos into day-to-day revenue journal entries for posting into the general ledger.
  • Responsible for non-revenue general ledger responsibilities as needed to support overall success in month end close and financial reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly account level fluctuation analyses and refund reserve analyses.
  • Use querying software (Looker) to extract large volumes of data from our home-grown e-commerce database; analyze and validate/ corroborate data against third-party information.
  • Work with our fintech team and business partners on system enhancements, automation and other process improvements in the areas of revenue, billing, and payment processing.
  • Promote and maintain an effective internal control environment
  • Assist in external audits, including delivery of initial information requests to auditors and pulling sample request documentation.
  • Participate in ad hoc projects as necessary.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, or Finance
  • 2- 3 years of experience with a combination of Big 4 Public Accounting (Preferred) and industry
  • E-commerce and Retail experience is a plus!
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Proficiency with Excel is a must (e.g., Pivot table, vlookup, sumif, iferror, etc.)
  • Understanding of ASC 606 revenue recognition principles and ability to navigate guidance and apply it to business practices for accounting conclusions
  • Experience with payment processors such as Braintree, American Express, Paypal, etc.
  • Experience with large data and translation of database reporting to form journal entries, reports and account reconciliations is highly preferred
  • Proactive self-starter with strong time-management and organizational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
  • A strong curiosity and a resolute mindset toward continuous process improvement with the ability to innovate and simplify both finance and operational processes
  • Effective interpersonal skills, including proven ability to listen, comprehend, effectively communicate clearly and concisely to obtain positive results

At ThredUp, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $120,000 and $134,000, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
