Duration: 9-monthSecondment/Fixed Term Contract with the potential to extend or go permanent. (Please note, secondments are subject to line manager approval, please discuss this with them before applying).

Location: This role is based in either London/Milton Keynes. This role is a full-time opportunity, flexible working patterns will be considered.For Quadrant: MK, you must live within 90 minutes of the office or be willing to self-relocate.

Band & Salary: £71,163- £81,661 (Band 2B) please note any salary offered will be within the advertised salary range and is dependent upon experience.

Who are we looking for?

We're recruiting for an exciting programme that is supporting Network Rail and the industry on developing and deploying innovative trials to help build a better railway. This includes areas such as stations, operations control, train performance management, timetable planning, and more.

We have two programme manager (change) positions available, one which will specialise in deploying the train performance centre intervention across the industry whilst the other will work on developing and deploying our new approach to signaller workforce management across the lifecycle of workforce planning, local training and internal mobility.

About the role (External)

What does the average day look like?

On an average day, you will spend your time actively driving deployment and development of transformation programmes, ensuring they remain aligned to strategic objectives and deliverables, and consistently monitoring their progression against budget and timelines. You will regularly engage with Functional Directors, Executive Directors, and senior stakeholders, fostering strong, effective relationships to facilitate successful programme outcomes. You will be at the forefront of delivering the programme nationally from an established proof of concept developed by the systems thinking team.

Throughout the day, you'll analyse and evaluate programme performance, meticulously tracking benefits to verify that transformational changes are effectively embedded. You will also be focused on detailed planning, monitoring milestones, and managing resources across various initiatives, maintaining oversight to guarantee each initiative is well-resourced and on track. Managing risks and issues proactively will form a critical part of your daily responsibilities, empowering informed decision-making by the management team. You will establish and maintain robust governance structures, providing clarity and control, ensuring effective programme reporting and decision-making.

Essential Criteria

·Proven experience of managing major, complex change and transformation programmes

·Proven experience influencing and engaging with Functional Directors, Executive Directors and other senior stakeholders.

·Proven ability to work with senior industry stakeholders to understand their requirements.

·Excellent knowledge and experience of programme and project controls processes and systems.

·Experience in contract and supplier management

·Experience of applying multiple programme / project methodologies in business and people change projects.

·Proven experience in managing and developing teams to achieve high performance Excellent interpersonal, management, and communication skills.

·Proven experience in business improvement and business change management approaches

·Has successfully completed ‘Managing Successful Programmes’ training.

·Knowledge of the principles of investment processes and procedures.

For the train performance centre role, experience of train performance management processes would be beneficial

For the signalling workforce management role, experience of rail operations and/or recruitment and HR processes would be beneficial
