How You Will Make an Impact
The Product Manager will play an integral role in defining and executing strategies that drive sustainable new customer growth at ThredUp. Reporting to the VP of Product, you will focus on creating seamless and engaging experiences that help new customers trust and utilize our platform. Your work will help unlock more efficient marketing spend, streamline payment flows, and build the conditions for long-term growth of our user base. By improving the first-time customer experience and enabling more efficient marketing spend, you will help bring more people into the resale economy and drive ThredUp’s mission of inspiring a new generation of sustainable shoppers.
In This Role, You’ll Get To:
- Contribute to the Customer Growth Strategy: Develop and execute product plans that improve landing pages, optimize marketing channel performance, and educate new customers about ThredUp’s platform.
- Streamline the New Customer Experience: Reduce barriers for first-time shoppers by designing intuitive purchasing flows, transparent pricing, and educational touchpoints that highlight the unique benefits of shopping secondhand. Foster trust to encourage repeat purchases through clear communication and consistent user experiences.
- Optimize Marketing Efficiency: Partner with Marketing to improve customer conversion rates and decrease customer acquisition costs. Collaborate with Data Science to leverage insights that enhance marketing channel performance.
- Educate and Build Trust: Design onboarding guides, tutorials, and landing page content that help new users understand ThredUp’s unique value proposition and inspire confidence in our platform.
- Measure and Iterate: Analyze data and conduct A/B tests to refine product features, validating the impact of changes and identifying further opportunities for growth.
What We’re Looking For
- At least 5+ years of experience in a product management role.
Leadership and Collaboration
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Marketing, Product Design, Data Science, and Engineering, to execute product initiatives.
- Strong communication skills to align stakeholders and share updates effectively.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects on different timelines and topics.
Technical and Analytical Skills
- Comfort using analytics tools (e.g., Looker, Google Analytics) and basic SQL skills to inform decisions.
- Engage with our users through surveys, interviews, or focus groups to investigate, identify, and propose new product opportunities and trends.
- Track and report growth performance metrics, and run and analyze A/B tests to learn across our growth initiatives.
Customer Focus
- Empathy for first-time users and interest in understanding their needs and pain points.
- Ability to translate customer insights into impactful features that build trust and drive engagement.
Strategic and Agile Mindset
- Ability to prioritize and focus on high-impact opportunities, with flexibility to adapt plans based on data and evolving business needs.
Growth Orientation
- Passion for contributing to initiatives that expand ThredUp’s user base.
- Experience supporting growth-related projects, such as improving user onboarding or optimizing marketing campaigns, is a bonus.
At ThredUp, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. This role pays between $134,000 and $175,000, and your actual base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Many ThredUp employees also have the opportunity to own shares of ThredUp stock. ThredUp employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, as well as a discount when purchasing ThredUp stock if voluntarily participating in ThredUp’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Subject to eligibility requirements, you’ll also receive other benefits: Comprehensive medical & dental coverage, vision, 401k, life and disability insurance.
