As Senior Product Designer (m/f/d) you will be responsible for designing intuitive, accessible, and user-centered experiences for our Legal AI solutions. You will work closely with lawyers, researchers, and engineers to ensure our product is both highly functional and easy to use. Your role will involve conducting user research, usability testing, iterating on designs, handing over final designs and working with engineers during development to ensure optimal execution.

YOUR TEAM

You will be part of one of our two cross-functional product teams, collaborating closely with engineers, product managers, and other designers. The team consists of 6-7 developers, a product manager, and a designer, working on prototyping, accessibility, UX, usability testing, and UI design based on our existing design system.

You will report to Ruth, Chief Product Officer at Xayn, who leads the product and design strategy for Noxtua, our Legal AI solution. With extensive experience in product management and user-centric design, Ruth is passionate about creating intuitive and impactful digital products. She fosters a collaborative and agile work environment, ensuring that design, engineering, and product teams work seamlessly together. Ruth values user feedback, accessibility, and innovation, making her a strong advocate for human-centered AI solutions.

Your responsibilities
  • Lead the UX/UI design process, ensuring a balance of 60% UX and 40% UI design, with a strong focus on accessibility and usability.
  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and user feedback analysis to continuously improve the product experience.
  • Prototype and iterate on designs, ensuring that legal professionals can efficiently interact with AI-powered tools.
  • Ensure compliance with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) to make our platform inclusive and usable for all users.
  • Work hands-on in all design phases, from concept to final implementation, collaborating closely with your cross-functional team.
  • Advocate for user-centered design by collecting insights, validating ideas through user testing, and refining designs based on feedback.
  • Stay up to date with conversational AI trends (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT) and explore how they can enhance user interactions.
About you
  • 5–7 yearsofexperience in product design, with a focus on UX/UI, accessibility, and user-centered design.
  • Strong expertise in Figma, prototyping andusability testing methodologies.
  • Deep understandingofaccessibilityprinciples.
  • Fluent German (C2 level)withtheabilitytocommunicateprofessionallywith legal professionals.
  • No prior AI experience required, but familiarity and a strong interest in conversational AI tools (e.g., Gemini, ChatGPT) and productivity apps.
  • Startup mindset – adaptability, problem-solvingskills, and a passionforworking in a fast-growingenvironment.
About us

The AI startup Xayn develops Noxtua, Europe’s first sovereign Legal AI. Noxtua helps lawyers analyze and draft legal documents and research legal questions while being legally competent and compliant. Hosted in the EU, Noxtua meets high standards of confidentiality in handling client data, professional secrecy (e.g. Section 203 German Criminal Code, Section 43e German Federal Code for Lawyers), and European data protection. Noxtua is powered by specialized proprietary AI models. The models are trained with high-quality legal data provided by the Legal AI Alliance which the tech startup Xayn initiated with the international business law firm CMS. This makes Noxtua the secure, independent, and specialized European Legal AI.

The Berlin-based AI company Xayn was born out of research at Oxford University and Imperial College London by Dr Leif-Nissen Lundbæk and Professor Michael Huth. Founded in 2017, Xayn’s academic vision remains, with a workforce comprised of approx. 30% PhDs. The startup has received investment funding of 19.5 million EURO from Global Brain Corporation, KDDI Open Innovation Fund, Earlybird, and Dominik Schiener.
