- Permanent Full Time
- From $108,752 pa up to $115,334 pa + super (up to 12%) + leave loading + 9 day fortnight (increasing to from $112,372 up to $119,371 pa effective 1 July 2024) Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A,) - Level 7 of EBA5
- 72.5 hour fortnight
- Hybrid, flexible working environment, including some work from home days.
- Location: Our Strathpine office has local parking on-site and is in close proximity to public transport networks.
We have an exciting opportunity to take up a Principal level role in the Floodplain Management Team within our broader Drainage Waterways and Coastal Planning department.
The primary focus of the department is to plan, manage and design the region's coastal, stormwater and floodplain management infrastructure, including built and natural form assets, consistent with Council's corporate strategic vision, policies and strategies.
About our opportunity
As our Principal Engineer Floodplain Management you will, provide specialist technical engineering expertise and undertake complex investigations of floodplain management issues to meet the needs of the community within the City of Moreton Bay.
You will have the opportunity to provide specialist technical engineering advice to key stakeholders in relation to the floodplain management including the provision of flood models and the development and maintenance of Council’s flood data products, systems and tools to drive strategic and sustainable outcomes as well as to assist in the development and operation of council’s Flood Warning System.
Examples of the exciting projects you can be involved in include:
Development and delivery of Council’s flood models and flood information products through innovative and based on best practice approaches.
Maintenance of council’s innovative Regional Flood Database [EC1] (RFD), MoretonAlert [EC2] , Flood Check System and other flood related systems.
Delivery of an innovative 3D visualization project to communicate technical flood information to stakeholders and local communities in easy to understand and engaging way.
Investigate complex floodplain management problems and prepare and present technical reports and recommendations using combination of ESRI ArcGIS and Microsoft Office.
About you
We are seeking someone who has knowledge in floodplain management and experience in floodplain management infrastructure planning and design.
- You will have experience in supervising and completing complex technical investigations relating to floodplain management matters and have the ability to apply critical thinking, reasoning, evaluation and decision-making skills.
- You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong professional relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Your written capability will be well refined with practiced skills to develop and deliver technical reports and proposals in a clear and concise manner.
