  • From $94,415pa up to $98,418pa + 12% super + leave loading
  • Qld Local Government Industry Award (Stream A - Level 5 of EBA5
  • 72.5 hour fortnight (9-day fortnight with Rostered Day Off - RDO)
  • Take home vehicle (commuter use)

Plumbing Services is part of our Development Services team, which is also committed to shaping a better Moreton Bay by assessing and managing the effects of development on the community and environment, working in partnership with the development industry to design and construct infrastructure for the community, and levying and recovering infrastructure charges to fund new and upgraded major community infrastructure.

The primary purpose of these functions is to regulate the carrying out of plumbing and drainage work to reduce risks to public health, safety, and the environment. This is achieved primarily by ensuring all plumbing and drainage work, other than unregulated work, is carried out by qualified persons and ensuring that plumbing or drainage work is carried out and maintained in compliance with the code requirements for the work.

About the opportunity:

As our Plumbing Inspector, you will undertake the assessment and inspection of plumbing and drainage work and ensure that all commercial and domestic applications comply with current legislative requirements and council’s policies.

You will ensure that on-site sewerage treatment facilities are installed, operated, and maintained in accordance with current legislative requirements and council’s policies. Provide technical advice to customers, investigate and resolve complaints and assist the public with enquiries relating to plumbing, drainage, stormwater, and sewerage treatment facility matters.

About you:

We are looking for highly skilled plumbing professionals with excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with various stakeholders internally and externally. You will have excellent time management skills and be focused on seeking the best outcomes for Council and our valued customers.

You must have demonstrated experience in achieving effective outcomes, including compliance with the design, installation, and maintenance of commercial/industrial, multi-residential, and domestic plumbing systems and on-site sewerage treatment facilities.

In addition to holding a current Plumbers and Drainers licence, you will need a current Queensland driver’s licence and a Construction Induction Card (White Card).

In addition, you’ll need to meet the following role requirements:

  • Undertake the assessment and approval of commercial and domestic plumbing and drainage applications, inspections and compliance matters in accordance with legislative and public health and safety requirements to minimise risk
  • assess, inspect and monitor on-site sewage facilities to ensure they are installed, operated and maintained in accordance with current legislative requirements
  • provide technical advice to customers regarding the operation and maintenance of on-site sewerage treatment facilities
  • conduct investigations of compliance matters or concerns and take enforcement action where required
  • ensure accurate records of assessments, applications, and inspections are kept.
  • contribute to a positive team environment in order to achieve a high performance, continuous improvement and customer-focused culture

And you will have:

  • Sound knowledge and experience in assessing and approving commercial and domestic plumbing and drainage applications, inspections, and compliance matters
  • knowledge and application of the Queensland plumbing and drainage legislation and the national construction code
  • awareness of the State Planning Policy, the SEQ Regional Plan, and the Planning scheme
  • well-developed time management skills and the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines.
  • communication skills to meet the needs of a range of internal and external stakeholders with the ability to work in a positive team environment, communicating and engaging effectively at all levels.

Catchment to Tap concept of drinking water safety

Plumbing Inspector Cadet Program

This two-year program provides a development pathway for a Queensland-licenced plumber and drainer in a local government setting. On completion, the cadet will have the knowledge, skills, and on-the-job experience to be well-placed to begin a meaningful career as a plumbing inspector and understand what is required to become a leader within the City of Moreton Bay.
