Operations Assistant Manager

Scope and Purpose

This position is responsible for processing all operations products, such as  Trade finance and Payments, Loans, Treasury Back Office  transactions, Factoring  as well as reconciling loan accounts, monitoring of loans, limits and processing of associated loan fees.

  • To check trade finance request and documents and contact with beneficiary on related documents.
  • To open  customer trade finance files and enter information with regard to the transaction in the core banking system
  • To collect and transfer the proceeds in trade finance transactions as well as commissions.
  • Examination of documents/other claims presented under letters of credit and other trade finance instrument to determine their compliance to the terms and conditions set out in the instrument.
  • To prepare trade finance documents (such as advice letter, amendments, bank acceptance document,  remittance letters,  issuance of letter of credits , counter guarantees and letter of guarantees)
  • Processing Loan limits, account openings, closing, rollovers and collaterals in the core banking system upon necessary checking.
  • Monitoring, following up and reporting of non-performing loans as well as preparation of Aging Report. Ensuring controls on IFRS-9 calculations.
  • To report the overdue credit lines in the banking system.
  • Tracking and controlling loans documentation, follow up missing documents/collaterals ensuring that all documents have been received. Storing operational loan files.
  • Tracking and controlling the receipt and payment of principal and interest and payment of loan fees, including but not limited to commitment fees, agent fees, facility fees, etc.
  • Performing Risk Center periodic reporting such as KRM, KLKR, Notice of Force Majeure.
  • To control and approve treasury back office deals as well as CBT’s required reserve and maximum interest rates.
  • Managing payments process in line with customer instructions and ensuring the required communication with sales teams and clients.
  • Checking required documentation for factoring transactions and ensuring its flow properly in the core banking system.
  • Replying to periodic and/or ad hoc requests of regulatory bodies.

Required Experience

10 years of experience in Trade Finance and Payments and Loan  Operations activities

Required Qualifications, Skills and Knowledge

  • Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance or related subject (a professional qualification like CDCS or other relevant qualification is an added advantage).
  • Bank Operations experience of at least 10 years in the Trade  Finance and Payments and Loans area.
  • Knowledge of BRSA and CBT guidelines and relevant local legislations as well as ICC rules.
  • Good knowledge of SWIFT/ EFT messages.
  • Open to work in a multi task environment.
  • Experience in monitoring loan portfolio and reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Good understanding of bank’s operational systems and MS office.
