We are pleased to announce an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Investment Analyst to join us here at Phoenix Group for up to 12 months within our Private Markets, Asset Management team.

The Role

The successful candidate will help us to create the best investment outcomes for our £283bn assets under administration.  Asset Management is part-way through an ambitious strategy to build out new capabilities to support Phoenix’s growth ambitions and is core to delivery of the group’s strategic aims.

The role sits within the Private Markets team, which is responsible for originating and managing Private Asset transactions, for our buy-and-hold fixed income mandate. The role has three areas of focus:

  • Assisting in analysing and executing investment opportunities across the Private Credit, Real Assets and Structured Credit & Alternatives asset classes
  • Preparation of materials for investment committees and managing key stakeholders to the investment process
  • Offering generalised support to the Private Markets team in developing our presence both internally and to the wider market,

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the assessment and triage of new investment opportunities to support the team in identifying the highest quality assets;
  • Support the team in conducting investment analysis; including through:
    • Economic analysis of potential returns,
    • Credit analysis across a range of asset classes and jurisdictions;
    • Legal review of key terms with new and existing borrowers to maximise economic value, mitigate credit risks and enhance legal protections;
  • Contribute to strategic projects around Private Markets to further expand the opportunity set of investments that Phoenix can participate in;
  • Manage both internal and external stakeholders collegiately and efficiently to support the approval of new transactions;
  • Support ongoing management of the portfolio by mitigating emerging risks, including by way of covenant waivers and/or restructuring;
  • Analyse market data and provide commentary on current trends/themes to support investment strategy and decision making

What we’re looking for:

Minimum Requirements

  • Applicants must be qualified to a minimum of a University Degree; ideally in one of the following subjects or similar; Economics / Finance / Mathematics / Accounting / Stats / Investment Banking or similar.
  • Strong understanding of financial markets, with a preference for high-level knowledge of debt instruments and/or Private Credit
  • Collaborative, analytical mindset and strong attention to detail
  • Openness and flexibility to learn and is proactive with self-development
