What We’re Looking For

The role holder will have significant areas or responsibility for working with the product owners in Individual Retirement Solutions to develop and launch new & innovative Retirement Solution propositions leading and deploying Standard Life 's proposition strategy, ensuring they meet customer/employer/adviser needs. Responsible for working with IRS SMEs in the strategic design, development and management of propositions which support the delivery of the wider business strategy and commercial objectives across all channels whilst meeting the needs of customers, clients and advisers in target market(s) on an ongoing basis.

Responsibility for leading virtual teams from across Phoenix such as Legal, Marketing, Finance, Risk and Operations.

Working with external 3rd parties such as advisors, platform providers and technology developers.

The role holder will also be responsible for ensuring all new initiatives or changes to existing products are approved by the appropriate governing bodies, be this internal or external. This will include working closely with Legal, Risk, Marketing and the owners of the relevant committees.

The role

Lead the feasibility study for new, innovative strategic objectives by turning aspirational ideas from Product Owners and Senior Leaders into doable, costed and deliverable outcomes

Lead a team built up from wider Group Functions such as Finance, Legal, Marketing, Technology and Operations to define, enhance and scope new strategic initiatives or enhance existing products.

Development of proposition responses to regulatory/legislative change where the opportunity exists to differentiate and/or gain competitive advantage

Ensure financial and non financial benefits for all future initiatives are quantifiable and meet Group strategic targets

Develop delivery structures with costed components and workstreams and use these to estimate initial high level costs for delivery

Save significant spend by leading feasibility studies for strategic outcomes before incurring delivery spend

Work with delivery teams to create business cases, initiation documents and fully supported delivery plans

Ensure propositions continue to operate in line with definitions and remain suitable for target markets and lead the definition of the KPIs that will be used to manage and monitor the propositions

Ensure financial impacts of delivery and customer behaviours are analysed to provide clear, understandable MI and used to identify opportunities to drive value for both customers and shareholders.

Work with the IRS SP&T architects, technology and assurance teams to scope new initiatives

Lead the AOP process for the creation of costs, benefits and priorities by working across IRS and Finance

Continually review ways to enhance efficiency and productivity to reduce costs.

Managing the integration of green light initiatives into delivery

Creating auditable adherence to methodology and governance

Ensuring all new or amended propositions are reviewed and agreed by the relevant committees in a timely manner.

Working with SMEs to draft input to committees and ensure all stakeholder management has been completed.

Working with committees owners to agree agenda items or in some instances to call special ad-hoc meetings to meet delivery timescales.

Ensuring the correct SMFs and authorised delegates have been identified and are actively involved in delivery.

Essential

  • Has worked in similar roles for other retirement proposition companies
  • Experience of working with pension platforms such as Bravura, Sonata, FNZ or other similar
  • Experience of launching new retirement propositions
  • Has worked in delivery roles in Financial Services for a significant amount of time
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills

Desirable

  • Able to take complex product detail and summarise for different audiences
  • Comfortable presenting to groups of over 10
  • An understanding of the wider pensions industry
