We have an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as an Investment Operations Technical Analyst within Investment Operations, part of the Asset Management function.

Team / Function Context

The Investment Operations team in Edinburgh is responsible for the daily administration and oversight of circa 1300 unit linked funds, available to the Standard Life (UK) and Standard Life International (European) brands, totalling circa £125bn.

The function is integral to servicing the customer proposition for each brand. That means taking the right actions for customers and for the businesses.

The role

We’re looking for an individual who has a talent for solving problems and creating solutions, using their analytical skills. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in a team where building relationships with key stakeholders in the wider Phoenix Group, outsourced suppliers and external companies will be an important focus.

Key responsibilities cover all activities in the lifecycle of the unit linked funds including:

  • Providing technical support and oversight regarding the daily pricing of unit linked funds, including interacting with the appointed fund accountant.
  • Reviewing and ensuring outputs from the box management processes create the expected outcomes for customers and Phoenix group shareholders.
  • Undertaking scheduled reviews of unit linked pricing, box management and other operational processes to ensure they comply with current unit linked policy and conform to risk appetite.
  • Ensuring that appropriate controls and risk mitigation strategies are implemented in the unit linked operation for the benefit of customers and Phoenix Group shareholders.

What are we looking for?

Experience (minimum requirements - essential)

  • Ability to apply analytical skills in the resolution of situations/changes/issues that occur within the pricing of unit linked funds and the wider unit linked operation.
  • Ability to apply judgement in time constrained situations and communicate the rationale for decisions made to a wide range of stakeholders

Desirable

  • A general understanding of an investment operation, including custody and fund valuation processes.
  • Competent user of Microsoft packages (specifically Excel – Intermediate level) and SQL.

  • Self-starter and independent worker with strong sense of ownership, capable of delivering to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Diligent working style with attention to detail and high standards for quality
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with holistic financial thinking
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across a wide range of stakeholders

Qualifications

Minimum A Level, Advanced Higher or equivalent in numerate subject such as Mathematics.
