Salary: £38,000 - £45,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: Fixed Term Contract/Attachment until March 2025

Location: Office Base is Birmingham or Flexible, This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working

Freelancers are eligible to apply for an internal role if they are on a Worker Contract and they have worked continuously for 6 months. If they have worked for less than 6 months continuously or have a break of 3 weeks or more between engagements, they must seek Divisional HR approval to apply for an internal role prior to submitting an application.

About Us: At the BBC, our Contingent Workforce team are a crucial part of the People Services function. We already collaborate closely with Production and Non-Production areas, ensuring that UK freelance engagements adhere to tax and employment regulations. We’re now expanding our team to support our global operations and the engagement of our international extended workforce.

Main Responsibilities

What You’ll Do: As an International Contingent Workforce Specialist, you’ll be at the forefront of shaping our global freelance processes. This role will involve:

  • Risk Management and Compliance: Work closely with internal stakeholders and specialist teams to navigate the intricacies of local legislation—covering tax, social security, and immigration. Your expertise will ensure smooth operations across borders.
  • Process Enhancement: Review existing processes, identify gaps, and collaborate with business stakeholders to define future requirements. Your insights will drive efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Optimising International Workforce: Analyse the usage of international workers within our organization. Where opportunities arise, you’ll take action to enhance their experience.
  • Complex Case Support: Handle escalated cases with finesse, ensuring fair and timely resolutions.
  • Global Collaboration: Join forces with our wider international project team to achieve broader objectives.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Build strong connections across the business, aligning on scope and responsibilities.
  • Training and Development: Assess training needs and deliver impactful training sessions.

Are you the right Candidate?

We’re looking for someone with:

  • In-Depth Knowledge: Familiarity with international tax legislation and employment law.
  • Contracting Expertise: Experience managing contracts for both workers and self-employed individuals, spanning the UK and abroad.
  • Process Savvy: Proficiency in process mapping, gap analysis, and documenting requirements.
  • Change Experience: Proven ability to drive change within matrix organizations.
  • Effective Communication: You can distil complex information into clear, concise messages that resonate with non-subject experts.
  • Strong stakeholder skills: Quick at establishing and maintaining internal and external connections.
