The Role

We’re looking for an inspiring and strategically minded leader to shape the future of our Actuarial Data Solutions function. In this pivotal role, you will define and deliver the data strategy that powers our actuarial operations—enabling sharper pricing insights, more accurate reserving, and stronger risk modelling through modern, scalable, and best‑in‑class data platforms.

This is a unique opportunity to drive transformation at the heart of our business and elevate how we use data to make smarter, faster, and more confident decisions.

What you’ll be doing

  • Set the strategic vision for actuarial data solutions within Finance, ensuring alignment with regulatory, financial, and wider business goals.
  • Lead a major modernisation journey, moving from legacy systems (e.g., SAS) to cloud-based platforms like Microsoft Azure to improve speed, agility, and scalability.
  • Design and execute roadmaps for data modernisation, including platform migrations, architecture redesign, and automation of key actuarial processes.
  • Oversee data integrity and design assurance for actuarial valuation models and reporting systems.
  • Build, mentor, and inspire a team of data developers and analysts, promoting innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Partner across Finance and IT to create integrated, modern data solutions that underpin core financial and actuarial functions.
  • Engage with strategic vendors (e.g., Milliman, SAS) to accelerate delivery and unlock new capabilities.
  • Influence senior stakeholders, securing buy-in for data initiatives and ensuring alignment with enterprise-wide strategies.
  • Maintain robust governance, ensuring compliance with insurance regulations and data protection standards.
  • Manage team resources and budgets, ensuring effective allocation across projects and initiatives.
  • Challenge and shape senior‑level decisions, building strong cross-functional networks across the organisation.
  • Translate the complex into the accessible, ensuring non-technical audiences confidently understand actuarial and financial concepts.

What We’re Looking For

  • Extensive experience within the insurance industry, with a deep understanding of actuarial processes, data flows, and regulatory frameworks.
  • A proven track record of driving data transformation, ideally including migration from SAS to cloud platforms such as Azure.
  • Strong expertise in data architecture, engineering, and data assurance—particularly in actuarial or financial environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, with experience scaling and managing high-performing technical teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience influencing at executive levels.
  • Experience working with strategic vendors to deliver complex data solutions.
  • Essential: SAS (Base, Macro, EG, DI Studio)
  • Highly Desirable: Azure Data Factory, Python, SQL, Databricks
  • Other Tools: Git, DevOps pipelines, Agile delivery tools, JIRA
  • Degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications in cloud technologies (e.g., Azure Data Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect).
