You will offer technical accounting expertise, guiding the implementation of new IFRS standards and Companies House regulations.

You will enhance our accounting practices by developing and formalising policies.

How will I spend my time in this role?

  • Lead on interpretation and implementation of new regulatory and reporting standards and amendments;
  • Provide post-implementation support and training to Finance colleagues and business contacts, as necessary;
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Trading, Origination, IT, Group Finance) to assess and recommend suitable accounting treatments for new business transactions, ensuring alignment with the most current IFRS standards;
  • Lead on preparation of technical accounting policy papers;
  • Work closely with group Finance teams (UK, US, and Australia) to provide support with IFRS-based technical accounting policy interpretation and application;
  • Facilitate the preparation of the Group and Company's annual statutory accounts in compliance with IFRS and Companies House legislation, focusing on the reporting requirement for financial instruments;
  • Work closely with the business to ensure that changes in accounting policies are implemented properly and accurately reflected in the monthly management accounts;
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive group accounting policies manual to improve the quality and consistency of financial reporting;
  • Ensure there is alignment of accounting policies across the group of Smartest entities;
  • Liaise with external audit team to walk them through new complex accounting policies and revisions thereof to obtain auditor acceptance of the proposed interpretation and accounting treatments.

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?

  • Qualified ACA (or equivalent) from Big 4 audit/advisory practice;
  • Comprehensive expertise in applying IFRS standards, particularly IFRS 9 and IFRS 13;
  • Direct experience in either auditing or preparing annual year-end financial reports.

Our Vacation Policy

We offer 25 days PTO for a full-time 5 day week plus public holidays. Our vacation policy is pro-rata'd based on your working hours.
