You will be responsible for developing the business and fiscal plans, plus back-office Business Partnering support of SmartestEnergy

How will I spend my time in this role?

  • Mentor and provide guidance to the Finance Analysts and Corporate Business Partner to ensure a robust annual budget and reforecasting process for the Group;
  • Ensure budget/reforecast work is aligned with management reporting packages and adequate explanation of the variances;
  • Preparation and maintenance of SEL’s Longer Term business plans, the annual budgeting process, quarterly reforecast reporting to Marubeni Group, and the financial modelling necessary for the annual parent company guarantee application;
  • Point of contact for all departments regarding budget-related issues, works with Business Partners for front office teams to produce more granular plans and forecasts as required;
  • Support the strategic planning and forecasting needs of the senior management team through the provision of ad hoc analysis as required;
  • Design effective short/mid and long-term budget models for the business;
  • Coordinate the consolidation, preparation, and presentation (including challenge of) the detailed SEL planning outputs to senior management and Group wide consolidations;
  • Implement budgeting policies;
  • Provision of detailed planning output to enable management reporting variance analysis;
  • Cash forecasting;
  • Delivery of Monthly Management reporting on the back of the Financial close which is delivered by the Financial Controller team;
  • Support group wide planning, consolidation, and presentation;
  • Support the production and/or audit of business cases and financial models prior to the submission of investment applications to SEL’s shareholder in the case of strategic business initiatives;
  • Deliver or have delivered via the team, Business Partnering support to all corporate departments (IT/CTO, HR, Marketing, Legal, Regulation and Compliance, and Management);
  • Work closely with the Snr Commercial Finance Business Partner and Team to obtain EBIT Planning inputs for the Front Office areas of the Business (Sales, Operations, Trading/Risk plus the Optimisation and Pricing Group).

What skills/experience do I need to be successful?

  • Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA;
  • PQE in a similar role;
  • Plans and monitors tasks and delivers through appropriate levels of delegation;
  • Financial modelling experience;
  • A good understanding of contractual arrangements and electricity supplier products and services (either SmartestEnergy or its competitors);
  • Knowledge of the energy, wholesale, renewables and third-party intermediaries markets;
  • Exposure to large complex companies.

Our Vacation Policy

We offer 25 days PTO for a full-time 5 day week plus public holidays. Our vacation policy is pro-rata'd based on your working hours.
