As a Grants Deployment Technical Lead, you will play a crucial role in guiding our grant funded clients through funder project set-up and reporting processes, to ensure that their projects align with funder terms & conditions. This involves providing technical assistance, reviewing & preparing exemplary quarterly progress reports, and offering feedback/drafting correspondence to enhance client-monitoring officer working relationship, and adherence to standards. Your expertise in project management, data analysis, and regulatory compliance will be essential in guiding project teams, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring timely submission of all funder required documentation & reports.

Your primary responsibility will be to support grant winners to report on time and to scope, ensuring that they receive their funding instalments on time and remain eligible to access future funding opportunities. Your role will include, providing technical assistance & guidance to support clients in navigating funder regulatory frameworks, to review required documentation & provide expert feedback and insight, to review and draft correspondence from and for the funder on behalf of our client/s, and to provide ad-hoc guidance on a broad range of client queries, as and when required. You will work closely with an assigned project manager to understand tailored delivery timelines for each client, review project related documentation in G-Suite, and proactively remove impending blockers, in order to ensure timely submission of detailed, accurate reports. Your expertise will help bridge the gap between Innovate UK’s requirements and our clients required deliverables, ensuring that all projects demonstrate measurable progress and impact. As a Grants Deployment Technical Lead, you'll use your vast experience of grant funding and project management to provide GrantTree clients with expert technical advice & guidance, to ensure that they successfully adhere to all of their funder reporting requirements to the highest possible standard. You’ll ensure that our clients develop & maintain excellent relations with their funder, ensuring that their projects are deployed successfully, that they’re paid on time, and that they remain eligible for future strategic funding opportunities. You will be the central contact point for our clients in managing their projects & dealing with any queries or correspondence from the funding body.

On a typical day you might:

  • Review & provide expert technical feedback on required documents, including project plans, risk registers, exploitation plans and collaboration agreements;
  • Hold meetings with project leads and partners to review progress and provide guidance on mitigating against any potential project blockers;
  • Review and draft funder correspondence, to ensure that the best possible relationship is established and maintained between the funder & client;
  • Liaise with the project manager to ensure that the project is running on track & to proactively identify any potential future blockers & devise plans to mitigate against them;
  • Review the eligibility of financial claims;
  • Record timesheets of your work for invoicing purposes.

Requirements:

  • 10 + years experience in grants/project management;
  • Strong track record of successfully delivering £250k+ projects throughout the entirety of the project reporting lifecycle;
  • Familiarity with working in major funder portals, particularly IFS & the EU Funding and Tenders portal;
  • A deep understanding of the Innovate UK funding landscape & wider regulatory framework;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively guide grant recipients & grant partners through the reporting process and to ensure that complex consortia are effectively managed;
  • Highly financially literate and comfortable overseeing multi-million pound budgets & financial reporting.

Desirable / Advantageous:

  • Prior experience of working as an independent monitoring officer for a major funder;
  • Prior experience as project lead on a grant funded project >£250k;
  • Familiarity with project management tools and data sharing platforms, including Asana, Pipedrive, Slack & G-suite;
  • Prince2 or Agile Project Management qualification;
  • Deep understanding of IUK and EU funding terms & conditions.
