Location: Flexible across BBC Offices - This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working

We are seeking Finance Business Analyst’s to join our team. Our ideal candidates are talented individuals who have strong analytical experience, able to work at a fast pace and demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills. Each individual needs to be adaptable to change and comfortable working in an environment of uncertainty.
We are a dynamic team and you'll get lots of opportunities to learn new skills and gain relevant experience in a broad range of areas. Experience of using a data visualisation and analytical tools (eg. Power BI, Tableau, SAC) and working in a digital environment would be beneficial.
Finance Business Analysts (FBAs) support the BBC in driving best value from the licence fee within each business area. FBAs will focus on forward-looking, large scale and/or high-impact commercial and investment decisions and support effective financial planning within their area. They will work alongside Finance Business Partners delivering financial and business analysis to help solve key business problems, progress local projects and initiatives and influence business decisions.
The nature of the team means the role will regularly be dealing with senior stakeholders and cut across different parts of the organisation. There is a strong focus on the development of team members, ensuring people work on a diverse range of projects, gain excellent senior exposure and take advantage of opportunities for both on- and off-the-job development.
Main Responsibilities
- Deliver the consolidated the savings reporting and analysis initially for COO Group
- Define and continuously improve the savings and benefits tracking and the overall financial management by savings initiative for both spend and EFT
- Work with FP&A to review the memos, FLB and budget packs before presenting to the FD, and co-ordinate the Risks and Opportunities across COOG for reporting in memos and budgets.
- Preparation of specific strategic financial and trend analysis (including cost driver analysis) for the FD, supported where necessary by appropriate financial modelling and industry trends and benchmarking to also enhance division wide decision making
- Build and design business case and investment cases to support the SFBPs and FBPs including where necessary industry insight and trends and other sources of financial data.
- Financial Analysis for COOG SLAs: Provide financial analysis for the Chief Operating Officer Group (COOG) Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and coordinate overall numbers for the Group.
- Lead continuous improvements to reporting and MI in COOG, and assist with regular and ad-hoc analysis and business modelling for the SFBPs and FBPs Finance Business Analyst
Are you the right candidate?
We have a strong track record of developing individuals at all stages of their career – from newly qualified accountants, to those looking to change direction, and those returning to work after a career break. A professional accounting qualification ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification or part qualification would be of significant benefit.
The right candidate will also be able to demonstrate a high proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel, able to manipulate large financial and non-financial datasets and extract useful insights which they can present clearly and compellingly.
Whatever stage your career is at, what’s important is that you can demonstrate your experience in most of the following areas:
- Analytical skills– collate and interpret complex financial and business data from different sources in Excel, translate identify themes and simplify this analysis in PowerPoint or a data visualisation tool (eg. Power BI, Tableau, SAC) to suggest solutions/recommendations.
- Financial Management- Prior experience in the financial management of cost take out (CTO) and/or major savings programs in large company or division (+£300m, +500 EFT), with the associated granular analysis impacting spend and EFT
- Problem solving– identifying key objectives and resolving challenges on a timely basis; communicating next steps to ensure management take informed decisions
- Task management– scoping of work from the outset, establishing clear timelines and milestones, and prioritising/escalating issues to ensure timely delivery
- Relationships– building strong relationships and influencing a broad range of stakeholders, including those in executive leadership positions
- Drive and resilience– team members should be able to manage their own work, run projects independently, and keep stakeholders appraised of progress
- Industry knowledge– either experience working in the media sector, or a keen interest and ability to discuss its trends, direction of travel, and relevance to the BBC
Qualifications: Professional accounting qualification such as ACA, ACCA or CIMA are desirable.. Highly proficient to expert at Excel, Powerpoint and data visualisation analytics tools (Power BI/Tableau/SAC).
