Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights. London weighting may be applicable for this role.

Job Introduction

The Extended Workforce team is an integral part of People Services within the overall HR function, providing specialist advisory and support services across the BBC.
The team works closely with Production and Non-Production areas to ensure all UK freelance engagements are compliant with tax and employment legislation, whilst also providing an excellent service to the freelancers themselves.
Main Responsibilities
The purpose of this role is to lead on ensuring the BBC is compliant in relation to employment status, rights and benefits in relation to the Extended Workforce population, including managing escalations and appeals.
Within this role, you will:
- Maintain awareness of recent legal and policy developments across tax and employment law as relating to the Extended Workforce, and understand impacts to existing ways of working
- Develop and implement new processes and standards to documents and policy
- Work with divisions/business to understand specific training needs and develops targeted training as needed
- Manage quality measures across all aspects of the Extended Workforce lifecycle
Are you the right Candidate?
This role would suit someone with experience and awareness of legislative requirements relating to the contracting individuals internationally. Additionally, experience in introducing new processes to an organisation would be beneficial.
You will have:
- Awareness of tax legislation and employment law as relating to freelancers in the media industry
- Experience of contracting individuals (both worker and self-employed)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to break down complex information so that it can be understood by non-subject experts
- Able to manage multiple and changing priorities to meet business needs
- Great attention to detail for compliance and data
- Able to demonstrate pro-active problem solving skills with experience of risk analysis and decision-making
- Proactive and driven to establish, simplify and embed processes
- Ability to quickly build and manage internal and external relationships at all levels
