California Environmental Voters (EnviroVoters), and EnviroVoters Education Fund, are excited to launch a search for an Email & Web Manager to join our dynamic, fun, and high-performing team!

WHO WE ARE

We believe this moment requires transformative change.

The climate crisis is here. And Black, Indigenous and people of color have been bearing the burden of our pollution-based economy for generations. We have the solutions to stop climate change, but we lack the political will to do it at the rate and scale that’s needed.

EnviroVoters exists to build the political will and power to solve the climate crisis, use climate action to advance justice, and create a global roadmap. To protect our water, land, air, and our most vulnerable communities, we organize voters, elect and train candidates, and hold lawmakers accountable for bold policy change.

Our vision is to build resilient, healthy, thriving communities, and create a democracy and economy that is just and sustainable for all.

EnviroVoters Education Fund, EnviroVoters’s 501(c)3 sister organization, works through programs focused on voter engagement and mobilization, issue advocacy, legislative accountability, and research and opinion polling to provide the public, policymakers, and environmental advocates with the resources they need to make California’s air, water and natural resources cleaner and greener through the democratic process. For more information, please visit www.envirovotersedfund.org.

The work of EnviroVoters and EnviroVoters Ed Fund to protect and advocate for the environment is rooted in our commitment to racial, social, and environmental justice. Engaging Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, among other key constituencies for the environment is an organizational priority. Within the organization, we aim to create a workplace culture and policies and practices that demonstrate how we value equity and inclusion.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Email & Web Manager is critical to our overall organizational success. The ideal candidate will run effective email campaigns, create compelling web content, move people to take action online, and manage multi-department digital projects from concept to completion.

Email:

  • Driving the strategy, vision, and roadmap in partnership with the Deputy Digital Director for our email presence, maintaining a calendar of activities, creating engaging and informative content, building user friendly/mobile friendly email templates, and managing our email databases.
  • Collaborating with our political, organizing, philanthropy, and legislatives teams to translate our organization’s priorities into email campaigns, including online advocacy, grassroots mobilization, rapid-response action alerts, fundraising, and membership development.
  • Growing the size and engagement of our email list and maintaining good list hygiene through creative strategies and identifying engagement and conversion opportunities for our audience. Spearheading acquisition opportunities, onboarding new names to the list, and tracking their performance both short and long term.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and iterating on branding, tone, and voice; ensuring accuracy and consistency in all emails.
  • Using analytics to measure and report on the effectiveness of our email campaigns and propose strategies based on this data to refine and hone our efforts. This includes using A/B testing processes to test creative design, content, email cadence, and timing with a goal of constantly improving email performance. It also includes developing nurture programs to re-engage lapsed members and creating a welcome series.

Web:

  • Driving the strategy for the California Environmental Voters and the California Environmental Voters Education Fund websites. This includes managing both sites, writing compelling content, creating strategies to drive greater traffic to our sites, and interfacing with web developers and designers to maintain the sites.

  • Managing regular multi-departmental website projects, including the annual Environmental Scorecard, in collaboration with the Communications Director, and the Deputy Digital Director, and serving as the liaison with the website design agency. This includes helping to keep the design and development on track, moving forward on the project timeline, writing and/or compiling all content, and QA.
  • Implementing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices into both websites and using Google Analytics to report on web data and make recommendations on strategies to improve our sites. This includes managing an analytics audit and implementing the use of Google Tag Manager with UTM coding in all relevant links on all relevant platforms.

Other:

  • Building a grassroots donor program, maintaining a cohort of regular donors, and driving overall online fundraising via email and web to hit organizational and departmental goals.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Project managing multi- and intra-departmental campaigns and projects, including our annual Environmental Scorecard, election endorsement portal, online giving and membership, and more.
  • Managing relationships with digital vendors and contractors and keeping track of departmental budget expenses related to our email and web program.
  • Leading an email and content team, mentoring younger staff, and teaching email and web practices.
