We help construction projects optimize their project management as a consultancy and then we use our revenues to develop our own software products. We do things the Laminar Way, that is, we bring control and clarity to projects by implementing pragmatic solutions using a mix of latest technology, our own processes, and a big dose of common sense.

The construction industry is the second least digitised industry. That means the infrastructure that we all rely on is a lot more costly, wasteful, and damaging to the environment than it should be. So, we’re building to fix that!

Our solution has world-class UX and human-centered design. We allow users to solve problems on the ground, while we collect site data. We will then perform advanced analytics using AI and Machine Learning to help deliver projects more effectively. With this, we can achieve the highest levels of value for the customer, the industry, and the world.

The Role

We are currently looking for senior/lead frontend developers who are really interested in pushing the limits of what a ReactJS PWA (Progressive Web App) can do.

The product you will be creating will be the digital backbone of a construction organization. It will be used by people who are building our roads, railways, buildings, power & water supplies. We are improving the civilisation we live in by digitizing the very process of building it!

Our platform is meant to be used out in the field, office, and board room. It will help people do their jobs by digitising workflows at the coalface and feeding information up to descriptive and predictive analytics.

For this role, an ideal candidate would be great at:

  • JavaScript and modern frameworks and platforms such as ReactJS for PWA, VueJS and/or Node.js (Required)
  • Semantic documents using HTML (Required)
  • Developing great user interfaces (Required)
  • Creating testable code and make testing a priority (Required)
  • Occasionally going full stack and, depending on the project, either diving in the Rails services to add a new endpoint or modify behaviour or working on node backend services (Desirable)
  • Identifying bottlenecks, using tools to diagnose and refactor code for scale (Desirable)
  • Use of CSS pre/post-processors like PostCSS, Styled Components, LESS, SASS and/or others (Desirable)

Salary and Benefits

  • 4-day week full time contract, fully remote. Plus, every weekend is a 3-day weekend but salaries are still “full-time”!
  • Huge focus on creating “software engineer’s nirvana” to help you do things that really interest and challenge you

  • Shape-up inspired methodology, as we’re working in 6-week cycles
  • Performance-related salary. For Developers, base salary would start between £18k and £37k (depending on the level)
  • Annual bonus in equity depending on level


In terms of application, we usually start with a screening call to tell you what we are all about in a small, casual conversation. That helps you to know us a bit better and tell us a bit about yourself.

We then have a technical interview and a Pair Programming exercise with two members of our team. From there on, it is down to the offer stage.

Usually, we try to make the process as smooth as possible by ensuring we would get back to you in a maximum of two weeks.

We work 4 days per week (32hrs). Pick which day you'd like off, or even switch from week to week (e.g. 3 days followed by 5 days). Most staff are off on a Friday
