Future Coalition is an intergenerational organization committed to resourcing movement-building solutions led by and for young people addressing the needs of their communities. Born out of March On, Future Coalition aims to accelerate the impact of young people who lead social justice work by funding, incubating, connecting, knowledge-sharing, and amplifying their work.
Future Coalition is headquartered in Denver, Colorado. The team is 100% remote.
Job Summary:
The Director of Programs is an executive leadership role at Future Coalition, responsible for designing and overseeing programs that empower young changemakers to create transformative social and political change in the realms of racial justice & social equity, economic justice, climate justice, and civic engagement. This person is responsible for ensuring that Future Coalition’s programs have long standing progressive systemic outcomes that benefit young people. This role requires a forward-thinking strategist with deep expertise in campaign and program development, the ability to translate high-level organizational goals into actionable initiatives, and a passion for youth empowerment and social justice.
The Director of Programs will manage and mentor program staff, ensuring Future Coalition’s core programs—including the Youth Direct Action Fund (YDAF), Civic, Community Catalyst, Future Incubator, and Future Consulting—are impactful, sustainable, and aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic imperatives. This position reports directly to the Executive Director and collaborates closely with cross-departmental leadership and external partners to ensure programs address the needs of the communities Future Coalition serves.
The position is a full-time position operating on a 4-day work week, Monday-Thursday for 32 hours per week.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Program Development:
- Develop innovative, scalable program strategies that position Future Coalition as a leader in youth led advocacy and movement building.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, executive leadership team and other stakeholders to ensure programs reflect Future Coalition’s, mission, values and longterm vision.
- Create, track and report department goals, ensuring goals are met.
- Analyze emerging trends, community feedback, and strategic priorities to identify opportunities for program growth, partnerships and funding.
Program Management:
- Oversee the implementation of existing programs by supervising program managers and consultants, providing guidance and accountability to ensure programmatic objectives deliver measurable outcomes.
- Develop and manage program budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and sustainability.
- Work closely with other departments, including Communications, Development, and Operations, to ensure seamless program delivery.
Evaluation and Impact:
- Establish clear, actionable metrics and evaluation frameworks to assess program effectiveness and success.
- Analyze qualitative and quantitative data to inform program improvements and report on outcomes to stakeholders.
- Communicate program outcomes to internal & external stakeholders, including, executive leadership, funders and partners, through reports, presentations, and public events.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and mentor program staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
- Identify and provide professional development opportunities to strengthen staff skills and expertise.
- Collaborate with Operations to participate in the hiring and recruitment efforts for the Programs department, ensuring the selection of diverse and passionate team members who align with Future Coalition’s mission.
Partnership Development:
- Cultivate strategic relationships with community organizations, funders, and other stakeholders to enhance program reach and impact.
- Represent Future Coalition at external events, conferences, in public media,and meetings to promote our mission and programs.
Advocacy and Outreach:
- Work with the Communications Team to promote programs and advocate for youth-led initiatives at local, state & national levels.
- Advocate for youth interests and initiatives at local, state, and national levels.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manages, coaches and mentors the Future Incubator Program Manager and Civic Program Manager. Additional program managers will be hired and managed by the Director of Programs.
Requirements
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Strong understanding of youth led advocacy, attuned to social justice issues & the national political landscape, and experience in community organizing.
- Comprehensive understanding of 501-c-3 and 501-c-4 nonprofit programming and the distinctions and compliance requirements within each.
- Proven ability to conceptualize, develop, and execute high impact programs aligned with organizational priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Adaptable and resourceful, with the ability to navigate challenges and drive results in a dynamic environment.
- Passion for empowering and developing young leaders who are looking for ways to drive forward progressive social & political change.
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, education, public policy, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, preferably in a nonprofit or advocacy setting.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk working on a computer.

To allow for time to rest and recharge, we are closed from Christmas to New Year’s as well as a week for a summer break in July. The organization operates on a 4-day workweek, Monday through Thursday and is 100% remote. Future Coalition also provides financial support to eligible team members who are receiving fertility and/or family planning treatments and services, and gender-affirming therapies that are not otherwise covered by health insurance.

Salary Description
$90,000-$105,000
