Only considering candidates eligible to work in Canada ⚠️

It's our time to scale. It's your time to be part of something big.

Tulip's mission is bold. We're a team of experts who have worked with and for retailers over the past 20 years. We are driven to disrupt an entire industry and enable one of the world's largest job markets.

Tulip has built a retail mobile software platform that empowers leading retailers such as Mulberry, Chanel, Saks Fifth Avenue, Kate Spade, Coach, and Michael Kors to give mobile devices to their store associates so they can elevate service, sell more and provide a personalized experience.

Tulip is a place you come to make an impact, working with like-minded people to build something meaningful using the best technology. We are growing, and while lean is great, we need more people, energy, innovation, and talent.

We are looking for an enthusiastic DevSecOps Technical Lead who isn't afraid to take on big and exciting challenges. The DevSecOps team works with a broad range of technologies like Kubernetes, Istio, Terraform, AWS, GCP, and monitoring tools like Prometheus, Loki, and Grafana, to develop and maintain a platform for our developers to run and monitor their applications on. In addition, we often drive broad change across the software that Tulip develops. We also run automation tooling and integrate security best practices into our product design process to ensure compliance with OWASP guidelines and mitigate vulnerabilities through the software development lifecycle. We offer a supportive learning environment, believe in experimentation, and like to fail fast, learn often. The person that suits this role likes autonomy and diving into problems to see where they can help.

What you will do:

  • Act as the work manager for your team. Resolve team-work concerns. Proactively resolve cross-team concerns.
  • Organize work processes in your team. Improve activities to meet goals, such as sizing, risk reduction.
  • Scope out complex tasks. Coordinate and unblock your team towards solving them. Encourage simplicity and architect for next-steps.
  • Ensure that any software your team releases adheres to Tulip’s production-readiness standards (is readable, scalable, stable, and able to be monitored).
  • Lead by solid technical examples. Work across tech or product boundaries to improve Tulip software.
  • Define the team’s technical vision and build alignment within the team on complex issues. Drive the release and acceptance of project features to your clients.
  • Encourage acceptance and deployment of projects to your customers.
  • Represent the team’s technical interests in cross-functional projects. Partner closely with the product organization in prioritizing work and coming up with the team’s roadmap.
  • Be accountable for deadlines your team has or shares, both to your peers and to the senior leadership. Develop and maintain successful working relationships with key representatives from other teams/leadership that are necessary allies for your team’s success.
  • Tailor solutions for use outside your team, including non-Tulip partners. Be able to speak with accuracy and confidence regarding how other companies facing similar problems as Tulip are solving them.
  • Mentor less-experienced members of the team. Can have direct reports, and people--manage a small team along with an experienced manager.
  • Partner closely with your team’s manager and give your team opportunities to develop new skills.
  • Lead interviews, including social or technical screening.
  • Represent Tulip at career and hiring events.

What you bring:

Must Have:

  • Minimum 6 years of DevOps experience with Kubernetes, GCP, and AWS.
  • Established experience designing and improving the cloud architecture, performance, resilience, observability, and scalability of  SaaS products.
  • Able to triage, diagnose and help mitigate production incidents with cross-functional technical experts across the company. An awareness of post-incident retrospectives.
  • Able to prioritize work at a quarterly and sprint-wise level and ensure that people are moving work forward.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to form collaborative partnerships with teammates, representatives from other teams, and senior leadership.

Nice to Have:

  • Familiarity with application security concepts, able to work with Security engineers for work planning.
  • Familiarity with the Prometheus / Grafana / OpenTelemetry monitoring stack ecosystem.
  • Familiarity with MySQL, how to diagnose and optimise query performance.

  • Embraced remote culture! Work remotely, permanently, and full-time.
  • A “workcation” benefit that’ll let you work reduced hours in order to extend your vacations
  • An excellent healthcare plan with no wait time, paid parental leave, and corporate gym rates.
  • A culture of openness and idea generation. We have monthly all-hands and quarterly town halls. We pride ourselves on our transparency and keeping it real. From the most senior to the newest team member, we give you access to decision makers and career building work.
  • The opportunity to grow and apply new skills be it hands-on or leadership. We prioritize diversity, inclusion, and building a community. We're a little weird but in a good way.

It's fun, it's fast, and it's future-focused.

Tulip gives back. Inspired, passionate, and committed people helped make us the successful company we are today. We challenge norms and put people before profits. Our founder, Ali Asaria, created The Tulip Foundation, a charity controlled by all of us, the employees. We believe we can build a great company that changes the technical space while simultaneously giving back to society and the community.
