Future Coalition is an intergenerational organization committed to resourcing movement-building solutions led by, and for, young people (ages 14-24) addressing the needs of their local communities. We are a 501(c)4 nonprofit organization. As such, we engage in 501(c)3-compliant activities (nonpartisan voter education, registration, etc.) and non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities (candidate endorsements, issue advocacy, etc.). For 2024, Future Coalition’s total operating budget is $3M, including $2M (66%) for 501(c)3-compliant activities and $1M (34%) for non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities.

A general overview of Future Coalition’s non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities for 2025 includes: Candidate Development  & Recruitment Initiative; Ballot Initiatives Impacting Young People (related to our 4 organizational pillars – civic engagement; climate justice; economic justice; and racial justice and social equity); Politically Active Youth State Tables; and Take It Back Network (TIBN) & TIBN Grant.

Scope of Work

Future Coalition seeks a highly experienced Development Consultant with a verifiable track record of raising more than $5M annually to support non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities (lobbying activity, issue advocacy, political activity, such as through independent expenditures to support, endorse or oppose a candidate, etc.) and an already  established network of personal and professional relationships with decision-makers and influencers at institutions that support non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities as well as high net work individuals (HNWI, persons with at least $1 million in liquid assets) with a history of supporting such activities. The selected consultant will assist with creation and implementation of a comprehensive strategy with two equally important goals aiming to connect Future Coalition with institutions and HNWI for the purpose of supporting our non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities.

Measurable Goals for 2025 (by 12/31/2025)*

  1. Coordinate presentations of Future Coalition’s relevant work to a total of 20 institutions and/or individuals; and 2) Secure $400k in funding to support Future Coalition’s non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities.

\* Consultant’s performance will be assessed bi-annually based on proportional realization of goals. For example, Q2 2025 (by 6/30/25), the consultant should have 1) Coordinated presentations of Future Coalition’s relevant work to a total of 10 institutions and/or individuals; and 2) Secured $200k in funding to support Future Coalition’s non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities.

The scope of work includes, but is not limited to, the following:

  • Assist in development and implementation of a comprehensive strategy aligning with the organization’s mission and values aimed at realizing the two aforestated contract goals.
  • Lead all relevant prospect research to identify and build profiles on prospective institutional and individual donors.
  • Draft, submit for review, edit and approval, and finalize all required grant writing materials.
  • In collaboration with the Executive Director and the Director of Development, identify key activities, coordinate schedules, and arrange meetings with prospective institutional and individual donors.
  • Lead planning on relevant cultivation events and efforts with prospective institutional and individual donors.
  • Support research, preparation, notetaking, and follow-up with prospective institutional and individual donors.
  • Assist with the creation of collaterals and materials to support successful pitching of Future Coalition’s relevant work.
  • Support creation and execution of webinars and learning events for prospective institutional and individual donors, including lead planning, logistics, speaker preparation as needed, RSVP tracking, and follow-up activities.

Proposal Submission

Interested consultants are requested to submit a proposal that includes the following information:

  • Overview and expertise: Provide an introduction to your consultancy, including experience with non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4”, specifically outline past success in connecting with and securing funds from institutions and individuals for relevant activities and building/cultivating relationships. Highlight your overall qualifications, expertise, and experience in fundraising.
  • Network of relationships: Provide a list of at least 10 personal and/or professional relationships with decision-makers and influencers at institutions that support non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4” activities and/or high net work individuals (HNWI, persons with at least $1 million in liquid assets) with a history of supporting such activities. Note: Only provide names. We will not contact these individuals or institutions. This information will only be used to help determine your fit for this specific opportunity.
  • Approach: Outline your proposed approach to achieving fundraising objectives.
  • References: Include contact information for three references from previous clients or full-time employers who can speak to your fundraising expertise and abilities. References will only be contacted for the consultant(s) in the final round of consideration.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

  • Demonstrated experience in fundraising for non-501(c)3-compliant activities / “501(c)4”, civic engagement organizations and programs, and/or related work.
  • Proven track record of successful fundraising campaigns and initiatives.
  • Excellent presentation, communications, networking, grant writing, and related skills.
  • Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Location: This is a remote position.

Compensation and Length

The Quote awarded the contract from this RFQ will be paid based on a negotiated monthly rate. The monthly budget for this project is $2,000-$3,000, and we are open to proposals of approximately 20-30 hours of support per month, as well as flat rate proposals. Future Coalition seeks consultants willing to commit until at least December 31, 2025.
