We are currently searching for a Data Scientist to be located in one of our 14 UK offices.

The role

We are seeking a dynamic and skilled Mid-Level Data Scientist to join our Digital team. As an early entrant in this rapidly expanding area of our business, you will play a crucial role in leveraging data science and machine learning techniques to improve our engineering services and drive innovation across the company.

You will have the opportunity to engage in a variety of high-impact projects, working on challenging problems for some of the UK’s most notable organisations, including the NHS and Oxford University. Our team has recently worked on creating clustering models for sustainability benchmarks, building energy forecasting models, and developing building performance dashboards. Additionally, we have trained convolutional and graph neural networks for physical simulations and applied large language models (LLMs) to internal knowledge bases.

What we are looking for

  • Develop and implement data-driven solutions to solve real-world business problems across the company.
  • Conduct data exploration, visualisation and preprocessing using common data science libraries.
  • Apply machine learning models and algorithms to derive insights and inform decision-making.
  • Collaborate with the product and software engineering teams to integrate data science solutions into our engineering services.
  • Ensure the reliability and scalability of data science solutions by adhering to software engineering best practices, including version control, unit testing, and code reviews.

Essential skills:

  • 2+ years of experience applying data science and machine learning techniques to real-world business problems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python programming and experience with main data science libraries (e.g., Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn).
  • Solid understanding of software engineering best practices (version control, unit testing, code review, etc.).
  • Experience with data visualisation frameworks (e.g., PowerBI, Streamlit).
  • Proficient in data querying languages (e.g., SQL).
  • Familiarity with statistical concepts and their application in data analysis.
  • Solid communication skills, capable of effectively engaging with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Desirable skills:

  • Knowledge of the engineering industry and its challenges.
  • Experience with one of the major machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow or PyTorch).
  • Experience working in a cloud computing environment.
  • Familiarity with containerisation and deployment technologies (e.g., Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
