Job Type: Permanent

Location: This role is located in the Edinburgh office  however we will consider candidates based in Birmingham and London office with time spent working in the office and at home.

Salary and benefits:  c£70,000-£75,000 plus an indicative bonus range of 16-32%, private medical cover, 38 days annual leave, excellent pension, 12x salary life assurance, career breaks, income protection, 3x volunteering days and much more.

The role

The successful candidate will work with the Head of Corporate Tax Compliance and Advisory and will be responsible for:

  • Managing the corporate tax compliance processes of the group, tracking progress against milestones and statutory deadlines, and championing process optimisation and transformation. This will include a combination of the following based on the successful candidates’ skill set:
    • UK corporate tax compliance for the non-insurance entities.  These include holding companies, companies providing financing to operating entities, service companies and small trading and investment companies
    • UK corporate tax compliance for the UK life insurance entities, with appropriate support and training from UK life insurance specialists within our team
    • Group-wide corporate tax compliance requirements such as group relief, corporate interest restriction, country-by-country reporting, transfer pricing local files and Pillar 2
    • Managing non-UK corporate compliance work in jurisdictions where the group has operations or investments, including working with advisors where appropriate.
  • Supporting the relationship with HMRC including managing correspondence and enquiries
  • Providing input into projects and support to the business on tax matters
  • Working with and supporting the development of junior and less experienced members of the team.

What are we looking for?

Essential

  • Professional qualification in accountancy (e.g. CA, ACA or ACCA) or tax (e.g. CTA)
  • Significant  experience in ‘large corporates’ tax environment, either in-house or in a professional services firm advising or auditing large corporates
  • Strong process management skills, including time management and organisation skills and the ability to manage numerous workstreams and timelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills facilitating collaborative working both within the tax team and wider finance
  • A champion of tax transformation, driving automation and process optimisation. Strong excel and IT skills including a willingness and desire to develop transformation and data analytical skills in this area e.g. Power query, Power BI.

Desirable

  • Financial sector (particularly life insurance) tax experience is highly desirable but not essential.
