Salary: £29,000 - £35,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Contract type: Attachment/FTC until March 2025

Location: Office Base is Birmingham or Flexible - This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working

Freelancers are eligible to apply for an internal role if they are on a Worker Contract and they have worked continuously for 6 months. If they have worked for less than 6 months continuously or have a break of 3 weeks or more between engagements, they must seek Divisional HR approval to apply for an internal role prior to submitting an application.

If they are unsure which contract they are on, they can speak to their booker or the HR BP, however if it helps - both a PAYE freelance or Modus Gross contract is considered a Worker contract and covered by the Worker terms found here.

Job Introduction

At the BBC, our Contingent Workforce team is at the heart of our People Services function. We play a crucial role in ensuring that freelance engagements within the UK adhere to tax and employment regulations. We’re now expanding our team to support our global operations and the engagement of our international extended workforce, and we’d love for you be part of this exciting transformation.

Main Responsibilities

As a member of our team, you’ll have a direct impact on our success. Your role will require you to:

  • Assess Engagement Requests: Consistently evaluate international engagement requests using frameworks aligned with our compliance standards, guiding decision-making and ensuring adherence to policies.
  • Manage Risk and Escalations: Be the go-to expert for complex queries, managing individual cases, and mitigating risks. Your attention to detail will maintain our high compliance standards.
  • Confidential Audit Trails: You’ll maintain full, accurate audit trails, and treat all data with sensitivity and confidentiality.
  • Commercial Awareness: Collaborate with peers and management to stay informed about employment law, tax legislation, and industry trends.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance existing practices and simplify processes, working closely with the wider team to drive positive change.
  • Stakeholder Management: Support end-to-end international Contingent Workforce processes, including stakeholder engagement.
  • Service Improvement: Collaborate with the wider business community to enhance our services. Your insights matter.
