Be the Heart of Gecko’s Events *

Are you an event-planning guru who thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment? We’re looking for a dynamic, adaptable, and results-driven Conferences & Events Marketing Specialist to bring Gecko’s brand to life at events across the UK, US, and virtually.

About Us 👋

At Gecko, we’re redefining student engagement in higher education with innovative, cutting-edge software solutions. We’re a small but mighty Ed-Tech scale-up on a mission to be the world’s most successful student engagement platform. Our team? We’re a passionate and tight-knit team of ‘Geckos’ who thrive on change, work collaboratively, and always put our customers first.

The Gig *

As our Conferences & Events Marketing Specialist, you’ll have end-to-end ownership of bringing Gecko’s brand to life through exciting, engaging events that drive B2B customer engagement and generate leads.

This is a full-time role, with flexibility required during busy periods. You’ll work closely with our marketing and sales teams to manage diverse events - both in-person and virtual - across the UK, EU, and US, ensuring Gecko is front and centre at key industry moments. You will take ownership of large-scale conference and exhibition events, from initial planning to post-event analysis, ensuring flawless execution every step of the way.

What You'll Do…
Event Planning & Execution *
  • Lead event planning alongside marketing and sales to elevate the Gecko brand and deliver results.
  • Oversee diverse events, including in-person events in the UK, EU, and US, roadshows, virtual webinars held during UK and US hours, and Gecko’s annual client forum.
  • Manage logistics, ensure smooth event delivery, and adapt to challenges when they arise.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to ensure our events always stand out.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management *

  • Build relationships with internal teams and external vendors to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Work closely with customers during events to ensure their needs are met and their experience exceeds expectations.

Post-Event Analysis & Reporting *

  • Gather feedback and analyse event data to measure success and improve for next time.
  • Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to refine strategies based on learnings.

Budget & Resource Management *

  • Keep event budgets in check while ensuring every dollar spent maximises impact and value for our customers.

Travel & On-Call Availability *

  • Be prepared to travel to in-person events as needed and provide support for events taking place during US hours, including occasional weekends.

Who We’re Looking For *

If you’re someone who thrives in a startup environment and is all about getting things done, we want to hear from you! Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • Event Marketing Pro: You’ve got experience planning, coordinating, and executing marketing-driven events, ideally within SaaS, tech, or higher education sectors and ideally in both the UK and USA.
  • Conference Expert: You’ve got a proven ability to plan, execute, and manage large-scale conference-style events (e.g., trade shows, forums, expos), overseeing everything from logistics to on-site coordination, and experience with virtual/hybrid events.
  • JFDI Attitude: You’re a go-getter with a “just get it done” mentality. You thrive in a fast-paced environment and make things happen.
  • Creative Thinker: You innovate with fresh ideas and creative approaches to make our events unforgettable.
  • Organised & Detail-Oriented: You’ve got strong organisational skills and can handle multiple events at once without dropping the ball.
  • Tech-Savvy: You’re familiar with tools like CRM and marketing platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot) and are quick to learn new systems.
  • Team Player: You love collaborating with others to bring big ideas to life, whether that’s internally or externally.
  • Customer-Centric: You know how to deliver value for our customers and ensure their needs are always a priority.
  • Adaptable: Events never go exactly as planned, and you’re someone who thrives in dynamic, ever-changing situations.
  • Problem-Solver: When things go off-track, you stay calm under pressure and find solutions quickly.
  • Flexible Attitude: Happy to travel as needed and support events during US hours when required.
* * *
Location *
  • Remote ( must be based within the UK and able to travel to events as needed, both in the UK and US).
The Benefits *
  • Work-Life Balance: 33 days of holiday, optional compressed 4-day workweek, and flexible working arrangements.
  • JFDI Attitude: We believe in getting things done within a short 34-hour workweek
  • Remote Flexibility: Embrace remote working with a stellar home office setup, also including MacBook Pro and headphones of your choice.
  • Workation: Take your work on the road and explore new horizons.
  • Perks Galore: Private healthcare, pension, death in service, EAP, and employee discounts & benefits via Perkbox.
  • Dynamic Virtual Environment: Work with some of the best in the biz in a dynamic, energetic, and super fun vibrant virtual office environment, where collaboration knows no bounds.
